METERINGAt Spotless we use technology that is specifically developed for metering services. Our exclusive data-capture and customer service solutions provide transparency and accuracy while our technology and engineering capabilities deliver cutting edge solutions with a focus on real-time data and reliability.

SKILLTECH MIMTR™Spotless’ Skilltech has successfully developed MiMtr™, a custom-developed metering service application and system. MiMtr™ is provided to customers at no additional cost to our metering activities and requires no ongoing expenditure.

MiMtr™ securely sends and receives information to and from field workers in real-time, and provides a portal for our Customer Care team to allocate, schedule and audit work. Client data files are scheduled and sent from this portal, with photographic evidence available on request. Time data is captured directly from MiMtr™ and invoices generated from the data received.

MiMtr™ provides live operational reporting and dashboards on productivity and performance to Customer Care and Operations. For the first time, clients, operators and Spotless are able to access the same source of up-to-date information. Consumers will be able to complete a self-read using the MiMtr™ Consumer App on mimtr.com.au.

POLE REINSTATEMENTOur propriety RFD Pole Reinstatement System™ is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to pole replacement. It employs a “positive bolted system” of ferrules and bolts to reinstate a pole’s optimum strength. This innovative system can extend pole life for up to twenty years and is easily installed in the most inaccessible of terrains.

Continuous improvement has led us to design and manufacture the BRFD non-invasive band-plate process, which allows safe and cost effective reinstatement of damaged or substandard poles. The BRFD system offers full structural support for defective poles with no sound wood at or below ground level. In addition, it eliminates the requirements to attach the nail through the pole with bolts and screws.

Both our RFD and BRFD Pole Reinstatement Systems are based on sound engineering design calculations and have been tested to industry standards by independent advisors.

ASSET INSPECTIONWe perform asset inspection services across Australia, through standalone contracts and bolt on services. We have been a proven provider of these services since 2001 and now run holistic inspection services encompassing above and underground inspections.

We perform a variety of inspection services, including metal, concrete and wooden poles, above and below ground, transmission, vegetation and visual inspections for different sites. Across these services, we provide inspection data for close to 171,000 sites each year.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENTWe are experienced in the rapid mobilisation of vegetation, arborist and horticultural services for utilities, councils, developers and corporate customers. In 2016 we serviced 215,000 trees, undertaking removal, revegetation and environmental initiatives. Our service lines include:

ERGON ENERGY METERING SERVICES, ASSET INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCESpotless has been providing mixed services to Ergon Energy for the past 16 years, through our Skilltech and UAM brands.

We have performed electricity meter reading for domestic, commercial, rural and industrial installations for Ergon Energy’s distribution service in Queensland since 2013. In 2015, we were awarded a new contract for North Queensland to provide meter maintenance, in addition to our existing contract to perform special meter reading, electrical reconnections and disconnection services.

We understand the geographical challenges. Our unique asset inspection and maintenance solution is tailored to Ergon Energy’s specific requirements and focuses on sustainability, covering:

• Ground-line and above ground condition of wood, concrete, steel and composite fibre poles

• Below ground inspection of wood, reinstated and steel poles

• Application and treatment for internal / external rot and termites

• Inspection of customer overhead service lines• Assessment of conductor clearances and

conditions• Visual inspections of underground pillars• Testing of SWER & Non-SWER earth resistances• Switching access to the network for SWER

CITY OF RYDE STREET LAMPS WITH SMART CONTROL LED TECHNOLOGYSince 2014, Spotless’ UAM has partnered with the City of Ryde in NSW to deliver a unique LED Lighting Retrofit Program with smart control LED technology. The aim for this program is to convert the existing lamps to long life LED’s with smart controls, and requires new lighting infrastructure to be installed. The benefits of this technology have been clear in reducing energy consumption and improving street light management through:

• Replacing traditional night patrols with diagnostics web based day time inspections—saving money and time

• Control over lighting levels—increasing efficiency in the network

• Automated alerts and reports for better management response.

Following two successful rounds, we have retrofitted 128 Metal Halide luminaires with energy efficient LED luminaires. These projects have involved installing control system access points and connecting each new light fitting with a Radio Frequency (RF) control node. These nodes operate in place of a traditional Photo-Electric (PE) Cell and communicate with the server through a Wireless Access Point (WAP). As part of their maintenance program, UAM monitors and manage the RF network and respond to any faults. We also maintain approximately 600 lights in Ryde’s private streetlight network.

We have assisted the City of Ryde to achieve their goal of 50% energy savings across the retrofitted network and take pride in delivering sustainable and innovative solutions for our clients.

WESTERN POWER POLE REINSTATEMENTWe supply and install approximately 2,400 pole reinstatement nails for Western Power. Most utility poles have a life span of 35 years and with a raft of fiscal constraints, network operators usually need them to last much longer. Spotless’ non-invasive, patented BRFDTM Pole Reinstatement System, is a low-cost, environmentally friendly, safe and reliable alternative to the expensive and challenging task of replacing damaged or decayed poles. Made solely in Australia, the award-winning, high-quality galvanised steel system extends the life of compromised poles by at least 20 years, with the added advantage of not requiring wood below ground.

SYDNEY WATER METER READING AND PLUMBING SERVICES

We provide integrated utilities services—from meter reading and preventative and reactive maintenance to minor and major capital works—to Sydney Water, across 1,580 master sites and 2,500 facilities in our role as Head Contractor. Spotless’ Skilltech has carried out meter reading on behalf of Sydney Water since 2014, and meter field services—meter replacement, repairs, installations, restrictions and reconnections —since 2012. Our 24/7 service level agreement covers meter field services for the full Sydney Water footprint.

For the last 10 years our qualified plumbers have provided residential plumbing services to Sydney Water’s customers through their WaterFix service and their hardship program Plumbassist. These programs offer a range of plumbing services that aim to reduce water waste and make homes water efficient.

BARWON WATER SMARTPIPE SERVICESBarwon Water has been Spotless’ partner since the inception of an idea to better manage standpipe usage by bulk water users, such as water carters. The close association with Barwon Water through a series of field trials has led to the development of a tough, reliable, and user friendly Skilltech SmartPipeTM product and service.

Spotless provides Barwon Water with a full end-to -end portable hydrant access service that encompasses the provision, monitoring, maintenance and web portal visibility of bulk water taken from its network. The SmartPipe solution also allows 24 / 7 visibility of water usage by Barwon Water’s bulk water customers, allowing better management and administration of activities previously unseen.

A major advantage of the Skilltech SmartPipeTM is that Barwon Water can automate the billing of bulk water users. The requirement for regular visits to take manual reads of water usage is eliminated. Through a series of approved network access points, Barwon Water is also able to manage network demand and prevent occurrences of situation such as low pressure areas and access from unsafe locations.

The latest evolution of the SmartPipe solution is the “Find My Hydrant” phone application. The app allows water carters to locate approved access points close to their delivery location. Barwon Water is the first water utility to roll out the SmartPipe solution across its entire network.
