2. Workshop on Modern Surveying Instruments

In order to understand the complexities of modern surveying instrument and to understand their effective uses a workshop on Modern Surveying Instruments and Their Uses was held on 4th September 2017 by Uttarahand Technical University in association with Skipper Technologies India Pvt. Ltd at University Auditorium.

The workshop aimed to appreciate the capabilities of Modern Surveying Instruments to explain the working principle and usage of Total Station and GPS, and also to explain the principles & applications of Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry & Image Processing, to employ Surveying and Land Development software packages for surveying. The faculty members and students of Faculty of Technology (M.Tech) and students of affiliated colleges attended the workshop.

3. Teacher’s Day

To mark the birthnday of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan’s Birthday, Teachers Day was observed and celebrated at Uttarakhand Technical University on 5th September 2017. Both the students & staff of University gathered joyfully for the celebration.

The function was inaugurated with lamp lighting by Prof. P.K Garg, Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhand Technical University, Chief Guest, Prof K K Aggarwal, Chancellor, K. R Mangalam University Guest of Honour, Prof Rajive Kumar, Advisor, AICTE, Finance Controller, Shri. J.P.S Tomar. Prof K K Aggarwal gave a very impressive speech and motivated students and teachers to be innovative. Prof Rajive Kumar mentioned the aims and objectives of AICTE, and told how teachers can take benefits of various schemes of AICTE.

appreciation and gratitude for all the teachers. They presented beautiful cards and gifts to their teachers and made their day special and memorable. Teachers were also felicitated with a special memento which was given to every teacher to acknowledge and appreciate their continuous efforts. The celebration ended with refreshments for all staff member. Teachers carried home life long memories.

4. Engineer’s Day

To mark the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, Uttarakhand Technical University celebrated Engineers’ Day on 15th September 2017 at University auditorium. On this auspicious occasion, Prof. P.M Khodke, National Advisor, NPIU, Noida was the Chief Guest and Dr. Prakash C. Kuniyal was the Guest of Honour who enlightened the audience with their motivational and informative address.

Students actively participated in various activities, like singing, drama etc. Prof. P.K Garg, Vice-Chancellor of the University elaborated that the role of an engineer does not end at achieving the degree, rather it goes much beyond for the larger benefits of the society.

After an interactive session, Prof. P.M Khodke and Dr. Prakash C. Kuniyal were felicitated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg, On the occasion, Prof. P.K Garg, Vice-Chancellor, Shri. J.S Tomar, Finance Controller, Dr. K.S Vaisal, Controller of Examination, Smt. Shabali Gurung, Asst. Director Sports and University teaching and non-teaching staff were present.

5. Handmade Invitation card Students of Faculty of Technology (M.Tech) and Faculty of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) invited Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg to the celebration ceremony of Engineer’s Day through a specially designed handmade card. The invitation card was designed and prepared by the students of M.Tech and M.Pharm department which was well appreciated.

6. GBPEC name changed

The name of Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College (or GBPEC) an autonomous institution for higher technical education located in Ghudauri of Pauri Garhwal district has been changed. The Govt. of Uttarakhand vide notification no. 385/XLI-1/17-49/2017 dated 25th August 2017 changed the name of institute as “Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology”.

7. North Zone Inter University Volleyball Tournament

Uttarakhand Technical University Volleyball Women Team participated in the North Zone Inter University volleyball tournament held at Dr. Y.S Parmar University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh from 12th to 16th September 2017.

8. Basketball M/W Tournament The Inter Collegiate Basketball Men/Women tournament was held at College of Engineering Roorkee, Roorkee from 25th to 27th September 2017. Shivallik College of Engineering was the winner and Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal was the runner-up from men team, while College of Engineering Roorkee was the winner and Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology was the runner-up from women team.

9. Badminton M/W Tournament

The Inter Collegiate Badminton Men/Women tournament was held at College of Engineering Roorkee, Roorkee from 25th to 27th September 2017.

In men single, Tushar Bisht, Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology was the winner, and Vasu Gupta, College of Engineering Roorkee was the runner-up. In women single Hoya T Konyak, Dev Bhoomi Institute of Technology, Dehradun was the winner and Ridhika Rawat, Women Institute of Technology, Dehradun was the runner-up.

College of Engineering Roorkee was the winner & Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology was the runner-up in men doubles, while Dev Bhoomi Institute of Technology was the winner and Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology was the runner-up in women doubles.

10. Workshop postponed "Hand on Training on Matlab Software” and the workshop on Cyber Security which was scheduled on 22-23 Sept, and 24th September 2017, respectively have been postponed till further notification due to some unavoidable circumstances

11. Ph.D Viva Voce held

The University conducted twenty two Ph.D viva-voce exams in Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Life Science (Microbiology), Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmacy in the month of September, 2017 in . The viva voce exams of Reetuka Raj , Vijai Singh, Tanuj Kumar Garg, Brajlata Chauhan, Bhavya Alankar, Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Pavan Kumar Shukla, Dwarka Prasad, Amitabh Talwar, Sonal Pundhir, Mohd. Yaseen Khan, Ritika Aggarwal, Rajeev Kumar, Rachna Bamba, Nikhil Monga, Ashish Arya, Ankit Agarwal, Shikha Bhardwaj, Sandeep Kumar Chaudhary, Ekta Pandey, Dinesh Kumar Singh and Anil Waldia were successfully completed.

The event was marked by the graceful presence of M.L.A, Tehri, Shri Dhan Singh NegiJi and Chief Development Officer, Tehri, Mr. Ashish Bhatgain Ji.

The event was embellished with a beautiful theme song presented by the student of BHMCT 1st Semester. A motivating speech was delivered by the Director of the Institute, Dr. Yashpal Singh Negi regarding the career prospects and the journey of the Institute over last 2 years.

The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour also spoke about the future avenues of the students after pursuing Hotel Management programme. The students, guardians and all the dignified people present had their lunch prepared by the Kitchen brigade of the Institute. The entire event was hosted by Mr. Jaswant Singh Jayara, Assistant Professor, SIHMCT&AN, New Tehri.

2. House Keeping Week

SIHMCT&AN, New Tehri celebrated Housekeeping week from 10th to 16th Sept. 2017. All the students and staff members participated with full joy and energy and even vowed to keep their areas clean and tidy in future also.

The institute prepared a schedule of activities for the students on the occasion. Students had gone through in various cleanliness practices, housekeeping fun activities & demonstration etc. during the week.

Day 01 activity: Briefing session/Cleaning of floors and walls, Day 02 activity: Bed Making/Towel Art, Day 03 activity: Cleaning of Glass surfaces, Day 04 activity: Fun activity; Blind Bed Making/ Demonstration of linen, cleaning equipments and agents, Day 05 activity: To clean & upkeep ones work place, Day 06 activity: Theme based Poster Competition

At the end of the House Keeping week the students were given the certificates of the participation by the Director of the Institution Dr. Yashpal Singh Negi.

3. Swachhta Pakhwada Abhiyaan

As per the guidelines given by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Govt. of India, SIHMCT&AN, New Tehri organized “Swachhta Pakhwada Abhiyan” from 01st to 15th Sept 2017.

On first day Assistant Professor Mr. Pradeep Negi flagged off to the students and staff which kicked off the cleanliness drive. The students and staff members of the Institution actively participated in the event. The Abhiyan was started with the “cleanliness oath day” & involve in the various activities such as: Green Campus initiative, Personal hygiene, Pure water conservation, Placement of Dustbins in the public areas, Cleaning of the exterior of the institute, Cleaning of various labs, Aesthetic Upkeep of various official documents, file & dossiers etc.

Amrapali Institute

1. Teachers Day Celebration

Known to be known is human desire but it requires a blend of sincere service to others’

Teacher’s day marks the birthday of the ever revered Dr. Sarwapalli Radhakrishnan, a ceremonious entity in the field of education. Every great leader leaves behind an untold legacy of remembrance and hence name never fades and is transferred via remembrance from one soul to another.

Teacher’s day came as one such reminder to the teachers’ of AIHM Haldwani. It was an entertaining performance of the young hearts of Amrapali who reflected their emotions in the form of songs, music and dance. The delicacies of the event in the form of beautifully presented triple cakes enthusiastically cut by the teacher’s followed by soft games of drawing on the balloon and musical chairs was celebrated with blithe spirit by all the teachers’.

The reflections of the 80’s songs as remix and the solo dance and song performance rejuvenated every soul. The teacher’s were cautiously served with refreshments by the sincere and dedicated students. Every bit of the event was relinquished by the entire teaching staff. The program came to a close with an enlightening speech by the COO. The teachers and students look forward to such moments of fun and frolic every year. It was a memorable day indeed!

2. Abhinandan 2017

A ‘let’s start afresh’ expression came forth in the form of the first cultural event of the new semester with a welcome note to the fresher’s who had enrolled in various departments in Amrapali Group of Institutes, Haldwani. ‘Abhinandan’ is not only an event to welcome the new students in the premises of Amrapali but also a platform to showcase their talents that will be nurtured during the next few years of their stay as Amrapalians’.

The Institute of Hotel Management saw many budding Amrapalians’ as artistic talents with great potential to rise in life. The programs received a great start with the arrival of the Chief Guest Mr. Dhan Singh Rawat (Education minister) and Guest of Honour Mr. Bansidhar Bhagat (MLA Kaladhungi) who elated the young hearts with their encouraging speech of help and comfort for those ‘who strive to present their best’ during the coming years.

The Chief Guest announced schemes for the meritorious students which included help in the form of ‘free tutorials as Super 100’ and ‘laptops’ for the best among the best. This served as the motivated curtain raiser for the show that began with the ‘National Anthem’ followed by the ‘National Song’ and henceforth the cultural events.

The enthralling part of the show was the famous ‘Ramp walk’ ever liked and appreciated by the students. Along with it came the closet of events like Bhangra, Uttranchal songs and dances and the Bollywood dance and songs. The entire environment was made musical by the young fresh Amrapalians’ showcasing their best on board. The

contribution of AIHM during the event was to ‘serve with love’ where many students joined hands to serve food and refreshments to the guests, management and staff. All cherished the fruit of their dedicated efforts behind the stage.

The new and old students from AIHM participated enthusiastically in all the events right from food preparation to anchoring and ramp walk as well as Uttrakhand dance and songs to Bollywood mash up. It was a moment of pride for Amrapali Institute of Hotel management when the fresher Mr. Rupesh Nath Goswami was chosen as Mr. Fresher AGI, Mr. Pradeep Bisht as Mr. Best Talent , Mr. Kamal Sharma as Mr. Best Personality, Mr. Rahul Sharma as Mr. Best Attire and Ms. Meenakshi Gururani as Ms. Best Attire. It was good to dip into the ocean of talent and bag 5 tags out of the total 8. The program thus reflected many traits to be nurtured in the following years and came to a close with thanks giving speech by the program coordinator Mr. Prashant Rajput and then the Dean Academics Mr. Prashant Sharma.

3. Conference on Cloud Computing & Cyber Security

Cloud computing is one of the most beneficial innovations for businesses providing low-cost, virtual services, and local hardware. Users place almost everything in the cloud, but what do we really know about its security? How can the users protect their data and privacy from being compromised? Cloud storage has its benefits, but it is also important to remain secure while taking advantage of any technology. While most organizations are offering cloud storage options to keep the data stored in the cloud safely, many organizations are concerned about mobbing their data to the cloud. Understanding the need of the hour, Faculty of Computer Science and Applications (FCSA), Amrapali Group of Institutes organized a one day conference on “Cloud Security” in collaboration with Cloud Security Alliance

(CSA) and Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) on 16th September, 2017 for the BCA, MCA and B.Tech (CS) students. It was our honor to have Mr. Sanjeev Arya, (MLA, Nainital) as Chief Guest for the conference. Dr. Sanjay Dhingra (CEO, Amrapali Group of Institutes) welcomed the chief guest. During his speech, the chief guest focused on the importance of digital literacy and security issues with digital transactions.

The conference started with the welcome address of keynote speaker, honorable Dr. Manoj Kr. Pandey (Director, FCSA). In his speech, he focused on different aspects of cyber security and key measures to protect one against the cyber frauds. The next session was taken by Mr. Satyam Rastogi (Chairman, Cloud Security Alliance, Uttarakhand), in which he explained the emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence and increasing dependency of the modern world in to it. He stated that “Artificial intelligence is one of the most prominent technologies currently being advanced. Not only is it a hot topic for researchers, but the world's greatest technological minds are fearful of its potential.”

In post lunch session Mr. Vikas Singh Bisht focused on android hacking, he gave a live demo by hacking the mobile of one of the audience. He explained various methods by which we can protect our data in smart phones.

In further session, Mr. Ankit Giri gave the information on Malware and ransomware and tried to explain about the potential threats raised by them in today’s technical world. In the last session Mr. Anshul Loshali and Mr. Akshat

Khanna educated about the cyber laws and new emerging currency BITCOIN.

Around 300 students from Computer Science & Application stream participated in the conference. The session of various experts was interesting as they were focused on the latest technologies and their security issues. Students attended the sessions with great interest and curiosity; many students were awarded for the raising good queries. The session ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Nandan Singh Dasila (Conference Coordinator, FCSA, AGI).

Bishamber Sahai Group of Institutes

1. Cleanliness Campaign

Bishamber Sahai Group of Institutes organized by Roop Chand Sharma Education Trust has started the cleanliness campaign in which all the students and faculty members has equally participate in cleaning their campus Ground.

In the event the secretary of the institute Sh. C.B. Sharma speaks is his speech that cleanliness is the main project of our honorable Prime minister Shri Narehdra Modi Ji. In this campaign we need to clean our country, our society and take pledge that we all maintain the cleanliness of our country.

In this event the treasurer of the Roop Chand Sharma Education Trust Shri Sourabh Bhushan Sharma said in his

speech that in this cleanliness campaign we need to clean our thoughts and feelings all well. Beside the cleanliness of society and country the cleanliness and purity of our souls is also equally important.

The training and placement officer Mr. Diwarkar Jain speak in his speech about importance of cleanliness and address the students that the purity of soul is the way to achieve salvation and our young generation should came forward and take oath that they will make the country a clean. The other faculty member has also equally participated in this campaign

2. Motivational Lecture

It is the matter of immense pleasure for Bishamber Sahai Group of Institute, Roorkee that it marks the beginning of the new session by a motivational lecture. In this event, one of the motivational lecturers Mr. M Sai Manish from IIT Roorkee has delivered a motivational lecturer on the topic “SECRET OF SUCCESS”

He explained the concepts of IQ, PQ and EQ which are necessary for the success of any man. He explained that without these three concepts the life of a man is like a ship without sailor which can sail randomly in any direction. He also laid emphasis on the development of self confidence which is the key of success. Mr. Mayank Kumar from IIT Roorkee also motivated the students by telling them the motivational stories of the Alexander and Martin Luther kings. He said that life is like an ice cream taste it until it melts.

The treasurer of the Institute Shri Saurabh Bhushan Sharma welcomed both the speakers by presenting the token of love and said that these type of lecture will motivate the students and provide them a right path to achieve success. The training and placement officer Mr. Diwakar Jain said that we never achieve success directly it is a long time step by step process. He said that planned will work always succeed. At last, Mr. Shahzeb Alam had thanked the speakers by presenting a small token of love.

GRD (PG) IMT

1. Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s day celebrations was organized by students of B. Pharm & M. Pharm and celebrated in a grand manner. Dr.Lakshmayya director Pharmacy department addressed the students to inculcate the moral values of Dr. S. Radhakrishanan , who is a role model of teachers. All the faculty were present in the program and greeted by students.

2. Mussoorie Trip

B. Pharm 1st year students went on Mussoorie trip along with faculty Mr. Anuj & Mrs Meenakshi on 05/09/2017.

3. Cleanliness drive

On September 15 Cleanliness drive was organized by GRD Pharmacy B.Bharm 1st year students in herbal garden and surroundings of the department as a part of Swachhta Pakhwada program and faculty members Mrs. Hema Seliya and Mr.Anuj Kumar participated.

The Director GRD Pharmacy Dr. Lakshmayya said that the main objective of the Swachhta Pakhwada has been ‘cleanliness, inside out’ – to sensitize and ensure good health and hygiene, in order to create safe, healthy, clean

and green environment.

4. Visit to Centre For Aromatic Plants Selaqui

On September 21, B. Pharm 3rd year students visited to Centre For Aromatic Plants Selaqui. Students got exposure to various medicinal plants i.e. Tulsi, Stevia, Pippermint Lemon Grass, Cumin & Rose etc.

The scientists from the CAP elaborated on the various aspects of cultivation ,collection, active constituents and medicinal values, method of extraction from the different plant parts. It was a good experience and interaction of students towards use of plant constituents in various dosage forms & cosmetic preparations. The scientists also explained about various analytical tests to check the impurity present in volatile oils .Students observed the distillation of oil from the Peppermint leaves grown in CAP during their field visit. 1. Swachhta Pakhwada

Sardar Bhagwan Singh PG Institute, Balawala is observing “Swachhta Pakhwada” campaign from 1st September to 15th September. The fortnight long programme is being conducted across the Institute and the surrounding areas to spread the message of cleanliness.

During the inaugural event of the campaign all the students, faculties and staffs of the Institute took the Swachhta Pledge. The inaugural day was observed as “Clean Campus Day” during which the students, faculties and various staff members cleaned their respective departments and the Institute premises. During the fortnight various social awareness activities like tree plantation and nukkad natak would be conducted. Various academic activities like elocution and essay writing

competition would also be conduction during the fortnight campaign.

2. Teacher’s Day Celebrated

Teacher’s day was celebrated with great fanfare at SBS P.G. Institute, Balawala to commemorate the birthday of our second President Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.

The celebration started with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Head of the Departments of various courses. Teachers also cut the cake to celebrate on this occasion .All students and teachers were present during the ceremony.

The students of SBS Institute showed their love and respect towards their teachers by presenting various cultural programs like skit, dance and singing performances and made this day a memorable one for their teachers. Students expressed their gratitude towards teachers and said they owed all their success to them. The teachers highlighted the life of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and urged the students to take inspiration from him. Teacher also shared a few words of encouragement for the students who had worked for days to organise the event. The special day ended with joyful mirth and cheerful laughter as teachers thoroughly enjoyed their day out

flagging-off ceremony at the Institute Gates by the Management, administration and faculty.

Students along with NCC cadets of the Institute actively participated in the cleanliness drive by collecting waste from the nearby areas of the institute.

An awareness campaign along with street play was organised to create awareness about the importance of health and hygiene on society. Students campaigned on the streets of Balawala and also went to homes of the people of surrounding region and told the importance of cleanliness. They also informed them about the proper disposal of the household garbage.

4. Sitar Vadan by Sitar maestro Pandit Prateek Chaudhuri

An instrumental evening under the aegis of 'SPIC MACAY' left a magical impression on the premises of Sardar Bhagwan Singh P.G Institute, Balawala in the evening of 6th September.

Sitar Maestro Pandit Prateek Chaudhuri mesmerized the

audience with his sitar recital. Pandit Prateek Chaudhuri’s sitar rhythmically matched with the beats of tabla played by his accompanist Shri Bivakar Choudhury.

It was a quite mesmerizing event for the audience. The event was graced by Management of the Institute, Head of the departments, faculty members and students. The music session was followed by an interactive session with the students.

5. Himalayan Day Celebration

To create awareness about the Himalayan Ecosystem and the challenges related to the declining conditions of Himalaya, Sardar Bhagwan Singh P.G. Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Research, Balawala, organized a seminar on the occasion of “Himalayan Day” on 9th Sept, 2017.

The seminar focused on the vast biodiversity of Himalayan ranges in Uttarakhand. Focusing on the issue, Mr. Mayank Bahuguna, Institute Boy’s Vice Captain, informed on the major biodiversity threats and challenges imposed by the humans. Ms. Somya Joshi recited an inspirational poem on Himalayas.

The concern about the challenges of Himalayan region shown by the students was well evident with the speeches presented by Ms. Sakshi Gupta and Mr. Pankaj Bhandari. A presentation on Himalayas was given by Dr. Vikash Jadon, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology that emphasized on the role of students from scientific discipline to work for the restoration of Himalayan wealth. 1. Teacher’s Day

On 5th September 2017, Teacher’s day was celebrated in Shivalik College of Engineering with a lot of warmth and enthusiasm.

Cultural programmes and events were organized by students as a token of love to express gratitude towards their teachers. Sweets and gifts were given to faculty members and the celebration ended with the teachers giving blessings to students.

2. Ozone Day Celebration

Ozone day was celebrated in Shivalik College of Engineering on 16th September 2017 by Civil Engineering Department.

Students prepared models and PowerPoint presentations to create awareness among everyone about the importance of ozone layer and how it protects the earth from the harmful rays coming out from the sun.

3. Vishwakarma Pooja

Mechanical Engineering Department of Shivalik College of Engineering celebrated Vishwakarma Pooja on 17th September 2017.

The day began with the entire faculty, staff members and students worshipping Lord Vishwakarma. His deity was installed in the workshop and the place was beautifully

decorated with balloons and flowers.

Main pooja ceremony was initiated by honorable Dean and Head of the Department (Mechanical Engineering) Dr. Kuldeep Panwar which was followed by prasad distribution to everyone.

4. Fresher’s Party

Fresher’s party was celebrated on 23rd September 2017 at Shivalik College of engineering campus. Students of second year welcomed their juniors whole-heartedly.

1. Debate Competition An Inter-house Debate Competition was held for the students of MBA of Shriram Institute of Management and Technology, Kashipur, on 14th September 2017. The topics were (1) ‘Swachhta Hee Jeevan Hai’ (2) Are Industrializations responsible for Global Warming? (3) ‘Recycling India’. Mr. Bhupendra Latwal, Dr. Arti Sharma & Dr. Mudit Saxena acted as juries’ members for this event, while Mrs. Dipti Rana & Mr. Kuldeep Goswami compeered for the event. Debate Competition begun with an Information congregation about all the topics. Students of MBA spoke for and against the motion. The highlight of the debate was the rebuttal round.

Director, Dr. Yograj Singh said that the mission: Swachhta has now been a part of our life. Since time’s going, the polluted condition of the India has been becoming wide & unsustainable; The Industries are more responsible for Global Warming. He also suggested that the best resolution to reduce pollution is to recycle the hazardous wastes in industries to overcome this global warming situation. He also motivated the students for making neat, clean & green India. President, Mr. Ravindra Kumar also blessed the students for their participation in these special topics; and he thanked to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to start this movement throughout India. All Staff members were present during this competition.

2. Guest Lecture

Mr. Sahil Gandhi, Business Head in Disha For Success New Delhi, addressed the students of MBA in Shri Ram Institute of Management & Technology, Kashipur by the revealing guest lecture. The focus of this lecture was “ENTREPRENEURSHIP – POWER OF DISTRIBUTION”. He expressed about the importance, development and success of the business to the students and induced them.

The President, Mr. Ravindra Kumar; Director, Dr. Yograj Singh; Principal, Dr. S. S. Kushwaha applauded the congregated information, as given by Mr. Sahil Gandhi and expected through honouring him that he would be giving that kind of lecture in future for our Institute.

Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management. 1. First year orientation program

An orientation program for n ewly admitted students has been organized on 21st August, 2017 in the college campus.

A. K. Sen, Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Harsha and Dr. Sandeep Kumar from IIT Roorkee delivered motivational lectures to the new aspirants and told them about the importance of role of engineer towards the society.

Chairman of the College (C.A.) Mr. S. K. Gupta has also said few words about the life of students and explained the importance of Time and Teachers in their life. First year Co-ordinator’s Dr. Arvind and Mr. Sumit Chauhan briefed all the students about course structure for the first year. Chief Administrator of college Col. G. P. Khanduri made aware all the students by general rules , regulations, discipline, etiquettes and other official needs to followed by them during the stay in college. The program ended with a pledge and National Anthem.

2. Blood Donation camp

A blood donation camp was organized at RCE in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad, Roorkee on 8th September, 2017.

The program was coordinated by Ms. Farah Malik, Ms. Anita Gupta, Dr. Sudhir Chaudhary and Dr. Ajay Bhargav. The team of Doctors from civil hospital, Roorkee was present for collection of blood. Almost fifty unit blood has been donated by the students and the faculty members for the civil cause.

3. Industrial Visits

Some of the Industrial visits for students have been organized in the month of September, 2017.

The students of Civil Engineering branch had visited CBRI, Roorkee, whereas first year students visited in ONGC, Dehradun and BHEL Haridwar to have onsite exposure. Students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch visited Anu Vidyut, Roorkee where they came to know about the process how railway telecom and signaling equipments are being manufactured in this company.

4. Campus Drive

Several companies had already started to visit the campus for recruitment process. Indian Navy visited the campus for campus drive and selected some students for further selection process. ARN Teleservices, Karnal is engaged in telecom installations and operation support for fixed and wireless operators. This company had visited the campus and recruited 10 students.

Reliable Automotive Engineering Services is a Gurugram based company which visited the campus and selected 15 students of Mechanical Engineering. Cryptographic IT solution is a Canadian based firm having its branches in US, Canada and India. This company visited the campus and selected 4 students from Computer and Civil branches. Several more companies are in pipeline.

5. Guest lecture/ Seminar

Roorkee delivered a talk on “Secret of Success” and motivated the students of First year. Professor Navneet Arora from department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Roorkee delivered a talk on the topic “A Way To Success “to the First year students. The students were very keen to listen and got encouraged through such motivational lecture. Mr. Sarvesh Verma who is author of Bestselling book of Quantum CAT interacted with final year students and guided them how they could become more employable, may have good aptitude and develop soft Prof. S. C Handa had delivered a beautiful motivational Lecture on “Taj Mahal”.

Prof. A. K. Mathur delivered a lecture on “Optimization of Water” to Civil Engineering students.

6. Fresher party

To welcome newly admitted first year student’s second year students arranged a fresher party on 16th September 2017.

The program started with lighting of the lamp before Goddess Saraswati. Many young talented students participated in the cultural activities presented on this occasion. All the students enjoyed the program a lot.

1. Open Pool Campus Placement Drive

An Open Pool Campus drive was organised at JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun by Top IT Brand, Value Prospect Consulting, Noida. A total of 720 students from

19 different colleges participated in the joint campus placement drive with full of enthusiasm. After several rounds, a total of 39 students were finally selected and offered the jobs.

8. Freshers’ Welcome Party was organised.

Fresher’s welcome was hosted by second year students for the newly admitted students. A Series of cultural and other programs and activities were organised by the students.

Dr. Dhan singh Rawat-(State Minister for Higher education, protocol and co-operative societies) attended the event as the chief guest and Dr. U.S. Rawat- Vice Chancellor, Sridev Suman Uttrakhand University as guest of honour. In his speech, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat wished the newly admitted students for their bright future ahead and emphasized on effective usage of the technical education for upliftment of the common mass of the state and the country

An Industrial visit for the students of B.Tech (Civil) -IInd year students was organised at Gammon India Ltd/UJVNL.

Students were given the exposures to latest construction trends and techniques being used in the civil industry. Students were highly excited to get the real life exposure to the industry trends. Visit was co-ordinated by the class co-ordinator Mr. R.K. Mishra.

11. Open Pool Campus drive Emotion Digital

An Open Pool Campus drive was organized at JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun by Top e-Commerce Company, Emotion Digital. A total of 53 students from 06 different colleges participated in the joint campus placement drive with full of enthusiasm. After several rounds total 11 students were finally selected and offered the jobs. Selected students were highly excited to get the offer letter before completion of their course.

Roorkee Institute of Technology

1. The Orientation Program

The Orientation program was held on 4th September, 2017 with the powerful presentation on Roorkee Institute of Technology, to familiarize and educate students of B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, B.Sc(Agri) and B.Sc(Forestry) with the educational values at Roorkee Institute of Technology.

A Floral welcome was made where CA S.K. Gupta Honorable Chairman presented a bouquet to Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Computer Science Department, IIT Roorkee and Dr. S.P. Harsha, Mechanical Department, IIT Roorkee and Prof. A.K. Mathur welcomed them and acquainted the students with scholastic philosophy and broadly emphasized upon the expectation from the students in a professional program.

CA. Satyendra Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, Vice Chairman, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, IIT Roorkee and Dr. S.P. Harsha, IIT Roorkee, Mr. Naman Bansal, Mr. Yash Agarwal, Management Trustees Prof A. K. Mathur Director General, Dr. Parag Jain Director and Mr. Munendra Chauhan, Registrar were invited for the Lamp Lightning Ceremony which was accompanied by beautiful verses of the Saraswati Vandana by students.

Key Note speech by the Chief Guest made students realized the importance of joining private institution and enlightened students with the role of perseverance and

obedience in life. Students were advised to take right decisions at the right time i.e. adoptability to situation. Later, Dr. Parag Jain, Director, briefly informed the need to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute. The presentation out in the open was very informative and interesting for the new students.

Management Trustee Mr. Yash Agarwal said that the students must be geared up for multitasking and knowledge from beginning to end for definite partaking in a range of events, clubs and committees.

The orientation program ended with a vote of thanks by CA S.K. Gupta Chairman, RIT. He congratulated the students on their joining the prestigious program at RIT and explained them that there is no shortcut to hard work. Students must be prepared for multitasking and gaining knowledge from beginning to end by participating in the gaunt of events, clubs and committees at RIT. The Orientation program concluded with the singing of the national anthem.

2. Engineer’s Day Celebrations

On 15th September’ 17, Engineer’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Roorkee Institute of Technology wherein the students and faculty members paid honor to the paramount Engineer of India, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya.

On this occasion, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Project Consultant. Centre of Excellence for Disaster Mitigation and Management, IIT Roorkee, delivered a lecture on “Earthquake Early Warning System for Northern India”. He shared that Earthquake early warning may be one of few problems where algorithms for estimation of size and location of earthquake discerned from initial few seconds of ground motion time history is used.

The Lecture was a learning experience for the students and faculty members giving them an insight of the latest advancements in the field of various EEW attributes Management trustees, Mr. Naman Bansal and Mr. Yash Agarwal, Director-general Prof A. K. Mathur, Director - Dr. Parag Jain along with the Head of Departments and faculty members were also present on the occasion.

3. Placement Session

Placement activities at Roorkee Institute of Technology are among the important milestones in the history of the Institute. The management of RIT extends every possible support to recruiters, students, placement team and coordinators to get the students placed in good companies.

The recent placement activities of this month are listed. RIT strongly believes in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each student and makes all efforts to help improve their skills through regular “Personality Enhancement Sessions” by the entire Placement Team as well as the faculty members of various departments thereby enabling them to choose right specialization and career path.

4. Students placed in Reliable Automotive Engineer Service

Roorkee Institute of Technology invited Reliable Automotive Engineer Service on 14th September, 2017 to conduct Campus Placement Drive for Pre-Final and Final Year Students. Over 60 B. Tech and Diploma students participated in the drive. Mr. Pankaj Dubey, HR Head of the company invigilated the entire programme.

Mr. Naman Bansal and Mr. Yash Agarwal, Management Trustees inaugurated the Placement Drive and welcomed the HR Team from Reliable Automotive Engineer Service. The drive was held in two rounds including Aptitude Test and H.R. Round. Total 13 students got placed at

Autotmotive Engineer Service. They were selected for the Posts of Quality Control on the package of 1.8. PA.

During the event, Prof A. K. Mathur Director General, Dr. Parag Jain, Ms. Isha Agarwal, Placement Head accompained by Mr Amod Krishna, Placement Manager, Ms. Arshi Ansari and Mr. Arpit Sharma Placement Executive were present.

5. “CINIF Technology” Campus Placement Drive

Roorkee Institute of Technology conducted “CINIF Technology” Campus Placement Drive on 14th September, 2017. Over 60 students of B.Tech (Computer Science) and Diploma (Electrical) participated in the drive. Mr. Avinash, HR-Cinif Technology conducted the entire drive. Mr. Naman Bansal and Mr. Yash Agarwal, Management Trustees inaugurated the Placement Drive and welcomed the HR from Cinif Technology. The drive was held in three rounds viz Group Discussion, Technical Round and H.R. Round. Total 31 students finally got placed for the post of J.T.E. and G.T.E.

7. Bajaj Capital Placement Drive

Roorkee Institute of Technology conducted “Bajaj Capital Placement Drive” on 15th September, 2017.

16 MBA students participated in the drive. Mr. Roshan Kumar HR Bajaj Capital conducted the entire drive. Mr. Naman Bansal and Mr. Yash Agarwal, Management Trustees inaugurated the Placement Drive and welcomed the HR from Bajaj Capital. The drive was held in two rounds including Aptitude Test and H.R. Round. Two students got placed for the post of Marketing Executive with package of Rs 1.56 lacs pa.

8. Vishvakarma Day

Roorkee Institute of Technology celebrated September 17 as Vishwakarma Puja to worship Lord Vishwakarma, the God of Architecture and Engineering.

It was an occasion for students and faculty to get committed to the root of development of machinery and for creating novel products.
