fraternities and sororities have played an

active role on our campus. To this day, UVM’s Greek

Community continues to provide endless opportunities

in an environment that enhances learning experiences

contributing to the development of citizenship, intellect,

leadership, and life-long friendships. The opportunity to

become actively involved as a member of a fraternity or

sorority can be among the most rewarding collegiate

experiences, one that will last a lifetime.

Fraternities and sororities can extend an invitation

during peak recruitment which takes place during

the beginning of fall and spring semesters. Throughout

recruitment you will have opportunities to ask Greek

members questions about how each chapter will contribute

to your experience at UVM. These chapters bring a proud

Greek tradition to UVM.

OUTDOORPROGRAMS

MORE:

UVM outdoor programs provide direct support to students

in pursuit of wilderness leadership training, skill development

and four-season adventure. The University of Vermont Outing

Club (UVMOC), founded in 1932, is one of the oldest and largest

collegiate outing clubs in the United States. In 2004, Outside

Magazine ranked UVM #11 nationally on their list of top colleges

offering wilderness adventure and education opportunities.

The UVM OC provides affordable wilderness trips every

weekend and leadership training and certification opportunities

for students each semester. The OC also provides affordable rental

equipment to the UVM community. Our focus is providing outdoor fun

& adventure while promoting enjoyment, safe use and responsible

stewardship of the environment we travel in. Start in August with the

Wilderness TREK program, a six day community building wilderness

experience (hiking, biking, sea kayaking, canoeing or rock climbing) —

an adventurous way to kick off your career at UVM! OC trips and programs

are available to all UVM students…no membership required!

Want to get outside? Take the first step, visit uvm.edu/~outside/ or call the OC at (802) 656-3439.

Who Plays? Anyone can join, and everyone gets to

play. In fact, over 1,000 students participate in

our nearly 50 recognized club sports. What sports are there? You name it! Aikido,

crew, fencing, equestrian, field hockey, gymnas-

being added and started by students.

Who is the competition? UVM club sports are

well recognized — many of the clubs compete at

regional and national levels against other colleges

and universities, and often win big.

Yes! Most club

sports participants have voiced that it’s the

camaraderie that motivates them to hit the field,

water, saddle, court (you get the idea).

The Department of Student Life believes social justice serves as a foundation

of student leadership development, community involvement, and

programming at the University of Vermont. We aspire to provide a safe,

supportive environment that values the identities, beliefs, and abilities of

all students. We are committed to actively engaging, educating, and

challenging students, our staff, and others in our campus community

regarding issues of multiculturalism, privilege, and oppression. As allies to

UVM students and as leaders in our community we strive to identify and

remove barriers to student growth, education, and involvement. We engage

in dialogue, provide training, and develop programs that support our

commitment to creating an active, inclusive and just student body.
