Congratulations, Ms. Sasha! We are so thankful for all of the hard
work, fun and positivity you have brought to each classroom you’ve
stepped into! You face each day’s challenges with no hesitation
and have become such a strong support for our primary teachers.
We appreciate all you have done and continue to do for them and
the children. Thanks for the awesome year we’ve had;
we look forward to
many more with
you as a part of
our Bright Star
Family!
We love you, Sasha!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
So far, we’ve had the privilege of serving the Belknap Family for SEVEN
awesome years! Tyler & Julie, thank you for trusting us with Blake and Brynn
on a daily basis, it’s been such a blast watching Blake continue to excel
throughout elementary school and getting to spend the summers with him!
Brynn is truly becoming quite the character in preschool as well; we look
forward to getting to watch her graduate Pre-K soon! All of the staff here at
Bright Star adores your little ones and hopes to continue watch them grow!
...the Belknaps enjoy watching hockey and
football, playing Fortnite, reading books, &
doing puzzles.
...one of their favorite family meals is steak, corn,
& potatoes
...one of the Belknaps’ favorite vacation spots is
the Frio River in Concan.
...they don’t have any pets of their own, but Nacho
has made a huge impression on Brynn as well as
the neighbor’s dogs.
...their favorite Bright Star memory is “hands down
when Blake had his mic stealing performance as an
elephant during the Preschool play! I still laugh
thinking about him singing Mi Cuerpo as basically a
solo. He told us afterwards that he just wanted to make sure we could hear him.”
All Kids Kreations orders are due on
Friday, November 1st! Be sure to check out
all the fun items you can order of your child’s
artwork displayed in the foyer! These items
make great gifts for the holidays.

During the month of October, we will be
placing pumpkins outside the classroom
doors. Parents, this is your child’s
opportunity to “spook” their favorite teachers
and show them your appreciation for
everything they do! Children can create
cards, make pictures and crafts and bring
sweet treats too! Located at the Parent
Board, you will find a binder that has every
teacher’s “All About Me” sheets! This will
give you ideas about your teacher’s favorite
things. Be creative, but more importantly
have fun with it!!

A HUGE thanks to all of our Bright
Star Grandparents who were able
to attend and make this a special
moment for their grandchildren!
The children were so excited
to present their gifts and enjoy
muffins with their loved ones!

Instead of venturing outside of school for a pumpkin patch field trip, we decided to bring all the excitement and fun to Bright
Star! Unfortunately, the fall field trip options within a decent driving distance, are just not living up to our expectations! On Friday, October 18th, we are having
Fry’s Fun Farm bring a petting zoo, a barrel train, as well as some other fun
games, crafts, and snacks for the children to enjoy! There will be an activity fee for this event; information including the fee
and times will be sent out to families soon! Please note, if you do NOT want your child to participate in this activity, they will need to be brought to school later that day, post
-event. We do not want any children to feel excluded, therefore we ask they just
come later.
As you all know, the cold weather season
is right around the corner. Please make
sure your child has weather appropriate
clothing in their cubby (shirts, pants,
socks, shoes and underwear!). This is
helpful for when the unexpected
happens. Our daily schedule involves
going outside twice a day (three times for
Preschool/Pre-K), even in the coldest of
seasons! Please make sure your child
has a jacket or sweater, gloves, and a
hat! Don’t forget to LABEL! :)
It’s time for Bright Star’s Annual
Fall Scholastic Book Fair! This
year’s Book Fair will take place
Monday, September 30th through
Friday, October 4th. Books will be
displayed in the foyer for families
to view and purchase. With every
book purchased, Bright Star earns
credits towards new books for our
classrooms and library.
Looking for ways to be
involved and receive a
FREE BOOK? There are three different ways to
participate in book fair FUN:
1. Volunteer to work at the book
fair anytime between the hours of
7:00am-10:00am and
3:30pm-6:30pm. Doing so earns
you a FREE book!
2. Have your child vote for their
favorite ocean animal between the
Narwhal and the Polar Bear. Two
winners will be chosen from the
winning animal.
3. Raffle to WIN! If you buy a book
for your child’s teacher, you’ll be
entered into a raffle for a basket full
of books and supplies!

Ms. Felissa, our Spanish teacher,
is back! She will be coming to
Bright Star two Fridays every
month and the children and staff
are so excited to have her at our
program for another year!
Ms. Felissa does an amazing job
tying her Spanish lesson into our
weekly and monthly themes for
each age group. She also uses
various teaching tools such as
songs, books, puppets, felt
storyboards, and so much more!
If you would like to continue the
learning at home, below is a link to
Ms. Felissa’s blog that is
accessible from home. She
includes vocabulary words and
activities you can practice at
home with your little ones.

Frog Street offers some great tips on how to
make drop-off a little easier:
*Parents should always approach drop-off with
calming body language. Never appear rushed
to leave your little one.
* Validate your child’s feelings by reminding
them they are safe if they’re feeling scared.
Avoid say, “You’re okay.”
*Establish a connection ritual such as saying
“see you soon, raccoon” or “bye bye, butterfly”.
*Be strong and breathe easy for your child, we
don’t realize how much WE as parents directly
effect their attitude about drop-off.
The simple action of closing your bedroom door
before going to sleep can help slow the spread of smoke, heat and
fire. Share this helpful PSA with as many families as you can!
-PSA from the Firefighter Safety Research Institute
As we look ahead to the busy holiday season and cooler
weather, please take the time to read and implement these tips
to help ensure a healthy environment now and all throughout
the year.
1. Please be sure to reinforce good handwashing habits at all
times for your whole family! This simple task goes a LONG
way in stopping the spreading of germs.
2. Please keep your child(ren) home if they are running a
temperature of 100 degrees or higher. Medication will only
mask the fever for a few hours, and they could still be
contagious to other children. Please avoid putting others at
risk.
3. If you keep your child home due to illness, it is imperative
that you notify management, the nurse, or your child’s
teacher as soon as possible to let us know the diagnoses.
We will post a Communicable Disease Form of your child’s
classroom door so that everyone is aware and can watch for
symptoms.
4. Remember, the CDC recommends that everyone over the
age of six months receives a seasonal flu vaccine each year
by the end of October!
