superpowers reveAled!

Most cat owners have said at least once about their cat, “Now how did they do that?” or “What the …?” or “Whoa, was that the CAT?”

Well, one source of their superpowers is … their ears!

Cats have 32 muscles in their ears, unlike human who have only 12. This gives their ears super mobility, enabling them to precisely locate prey (like mice) or food sources (like the opening of their cat food can or bag).

Cats can also hear frequencies that are both below and above the range that can be heard by mere humans. So, they are just choosing to ignore us.

The cat ear also has the job of helping to maintain balance. Their ears give them the ability to flip and right themselves when falling – which is where the phrase “Cats always land on their feet” came from.Source: www.purina.com.au/cats/care/information/facts

I adopted my Roo in May of 2011 and boy has she been loved on ever since. I love my adopt-a-pet and would never purchase a dog any other way. Thank you for ALL you do for the puppies at SPCA.

Lincolnsubmitted by: Kim & chris miller

We just wanted to share a photo of “Lincoln” - now renamed Beauregard Lincoln Miller - a nod to his Southern roots. Ginger was on the loveseat first then after a bit, Beau climbed up beside her. :) He is now relaxed more inside and outside the house and has become part of the family. When we are home, he can go outside and inside when he pleases. He still paces around the trees, but it is not as often or as intense. Chris takes Beau and Ginger for daily, long walks which they all enjoy. Thank you all for everything you do there!

Ambersubmitted by: mona Khaled & Family

Greetings, we adopted a 7 month old cat, Amber, from SPCA. The volunteer who assisted us with the adoption couldn’t have been kinder and more helpful. It has been a smooth transition with Amber joining the family and adjusting to a big dog. She seems incredibly happy and it is fun to see her be a kitty and tear through the house and have fun playing with our 9 month old kitty.

Thank you to all the volunteers at SPCA for the loving care you show the animals and all the volunteer hours given to caring for the animals. Please know how grateful we are for this important work with our fur friends who are so deserving of loving homes and need advocacy for their rights.

Emmesubmitted by: maya caveWe recently adopted Emme from the shelter. We renamed him Max and he has become one of our biggest blessings within a matter of days. Im not sure where to start! He is such an amazing animal in so many ways. He really enjoys long walks, cuddling with his mom and dad, and the comforters being lifted so he can crawl to the bottom and sleep, as well as playing with all of his toys (he is a little spoiled) and meeting new people. He is incredibly intelligent. He recently learned how to shake paws and since he gets so much praise for it he does it even when it is not asked of him! He has a harness for taking walks and he will even put his leg into it for me!! Max gets a lot of attention at the pet store because he likes to pick out a new toy and

carry it to the cash register all by himself! He absolutely adores his hedgehog and squirrel. They go everywhere with him! I suffer from intense panic attacks and ptsd flashbacks and Max will lay cuddled up against me until I fall asleep or calm down. The only thing we are working on is Max likes to sleep on top of our pillows

in a ball b e t w e e n us and his dad is not a huge fan of that :)

T h a n k y o u f o r helping us co m p lete our family. He truly is a blessing.
