engine, dashboard or door trim of the vehicle, then refresh your RAC Car Passport for free by logging in with the

registration number and this report reference number. We will then check the VIN you’ve entered matches the original

    change registered with the DVLA

Personalised plates are not uncommon. If plate changes

are found, check the registration number and VIN match

    the V5C document

If the car is listed as imported ask the seller to explain

the vehicle history to you, so you can be sure there

weren't any issues with the car before it was imported

If the DVLA has marked this vehicle as exported, it

should no longer be in the UK. Check the vehicle is

registered with the DVLA before buying

We advise not to buy a car that is registered as

scrapped. A scrapped vehicle should no longer exist,

meaning the car for sale could be a clone.

To help you negotiate on price, this make and model has been independently valued by Glass’s who

Dealer prices tend to be higher as they

    cover the cost of advertising,

    refurbishment and margin.

    DEALER PRICE

    HOW TO NEGOTIATE

Find out what price similar cars are going for, set your

price and then negotiate to that point with the seller.

Start at your 'best price' and prepare to meet in the

    middle.

Highlight any needed repairs and use this to negotiate

on price, for example to replace worn tyres.

    6

Prices will depend on the age and

condition of the vehicle. A full service

MOT history could add value to the car.

    PRIVATE SALE PRICE

    £21,000.00

Faults found during a test drive are always worth

    haggling over .

Check any modifications have been carried out to a

high standard, be aware some modifications can

    devalue cars.

    “Be open-minded. Obviously you’ll have a budget and a

good idea of what you want. But if something else crops

up in top-notch condition at a bargain price you’d be

    a fool to ignore it.

The second rule is to trust your instincts. If a gut feeling

tells you there is something not quite right about the

car or the seller, walk away. Don’t be browbeaten by

logical argument into buying something you don’twant. That’s how salesmen earn their money and you

    lose yours”.
