We are seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Manager to the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). The CTU is based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, Glasgow which is one of the major cancer clinical trials units in the UK (partner in Cancer Clinical Trials Unit Scotland NCRI Accredited Unit). You will be responsible for the continued development of the quality management system within the CTU, the management of the on-site monitoring of CTU trials throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the ongoing audit of CTU trials. You will be expected to advise CTU staff on the regulatory, ethical and quality assurance standards including Statutory Instruments, EU Directive, and Research Governance Framework. You will be responsible and accountable for the day to day operational Health Records Service within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and associated peripheral sites, ensuring a quality service to patients, medical staff and other service users. You will be required to undertake the day to day operational decisions and propose developments within the parameters of departmental and organisational policy; You will also have a complete overview of the workload and activity of the Department and must maintain an appropriately staffed service. This post requires strong communication links at all levels of the organisation. you will be required to respond to difficult and complex situations, only referring problems to the Health Records Manager if urgently required. You will also have the responsibility to ensure that the departmental performance indicators and targets are met and to investigate and rectify any shortfalls in service delivery while reporting any concerns to the Health Records Manager. You will meet regularly with the Health Records Manager to review performance, set objectives and agree personal development plans. Substantial experience within a health records environment, and significant experience across the service with significant previous supervisory experience are essential. You will also be required to have specialist knowledge of health records gained through relative experience, educated to/working towards a professional qualification. Excellent IT skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise workload and to collaborate with other health professionals and work on your own initiative and as a team member are also requirements of this post. The post would suit a Senior Trainee with a particular interest in Paediatric Orthopaedics. Applicants are expected to have a good basic training in adult and paediatric general orthopaedics and trauma. The successful applicant will be exposed to a wide range of Paediatric Orthopaedic sub specialties in a busy teaching hospital environment. The post is compliant with the EWTD, on call 1 in 6 (non resident). There is an active teaching programme and opportunities for research are available. The post is not yet recognised for postgraduate training, though this is currently being negotiated. The position is for one year, beginning on 1st June 2011. The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, is one of the largest paediatric teaching hospital in the UK and the largest in Scotland and all paediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented. The successful candidate will receive an excellent introduction to the specialist care of patients with Haematological disorders and malignant diseases along with the appropriate laboratory background. The West of Scotland region covers a wide geographical area and a total population of 2.55 million populations in 5 major health boards. The rotation involves periods in specialist areas such as paediatrics, blood transfusion, bone marrow transplant and coagulation with time spent in both North and South Glasgow for generalist training. You must possess MRCP (UK) Part I and II Written or equivalent previous experience in Haematology is desirable. Glasgow offers a wide range of cultural and sporting opportunities. Ward 36 is a busy, physically demanding and challenging 28 bedded elderly assessment ward, which provides ongoing assessments for patients waiting for nursing home, long term care for those patients who have more complex medical and or social issues and palliative care. This role is a development post (rotational within the unit) to assist the management of patient care in partnership with the ward management structure as required. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based programmes of care with reference to patients and without direct supervision. You will be a First Level Registered nurse with current NMC registration together with evidence of continued professional development and excellent organisational, communication and time management skills. You will have a genuine interest in care of the elderly and will be committed to providing a high standard of nursing care in a caring and empathetic manner. This post presents a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Prescribing Team within a Community Health Partnership (CHP) setting to take forward key prescribing initiatives and work with the Scottish Medicines Consortium in the role of Pharmaceutical Analyst. An equal split of contracted hours will be given to each role. As a key member of the Prescribing Team you will have an important role in promoting and implementing cost effective and evidence based prescribing within specific GP practices across the CHP. This post requires excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills along with the ability to influence and affect change. This is an opportunity to develop your career in Primary Care working with multi disciplinary teams, particularly GP Practices, Community Pharmacies and across care settings. The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) is a national advisory body that provides advice to Health Boards and Area Drug and Therapeutic Committees within NHS Scotland about the clinical and cost-effectiveness of new medicines launched in the UK to support resource planning and formulary management. You would lead the evaluation of clinical data submitted to the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) by pharmaceutical companies for new chemical entities, significant new formulations and significant new indications of existing medicines launched in the UK. This is used to provide the clinical evidence base for national advice regarding the acceptability of these for use in patient care within NHS Scotland. In addition Pharmaceutical Analysts have ongoing commitments to contribute to the maintenance and development of horizon-scanning services for NHS Scotland, participate in projects for the development of SMC processes and outputs and to participate in a framework for skill sharing with NHS colleagues. You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent with relevant post qualification registration and ideally a postgraduate clinical qualification. An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a specialist clinical pharmacist to join the established team of clinical pharmacists providing pharmaceutical care to the Medical Directorate at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow. This would be for a 9 month fixed term period to cover maternity leave. You will work as part of our dedicated pharmacy team within the respiratory unit. You will attend outpatient clinics and maintain care plans for the current and new adult patients, attend multidisciplinary team meetings and attend ward rounds. You will also maintain our database of tobramycin pharmacokinetics in cystic fibrosis patients. The unit currently serves 240 patients from across the West of Scotland, and has approximately 4 new inpatients per week and 16 outpatient reviews. You should have a Masters of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, and be a Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain or Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland. Raigmore Hospital’s revenue budget is £130m and you will be responsible for managing the ‘Financial Management’ requirements of the Hospital including budgeting, forecasting and the completion of business cases, working closely with the Raigmore General Manager. You will be an active and integral member of the Raigmore Management Team and be expected to provide comprehensive financial advice to this team and to the wider Hospital community. You will also be responsible for a small team of Financial Management Accountants and Assistants who work within the Hospital. You should have excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills along with the ability to work and deliver results under pressure.
