Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? If so, an opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the NHS Fife Child Protection Nursing Team.

You should have extensive experience of working directly with children, young people and their families within a child protection context as well as a sound knowledge of child protection research, guidance, legislation and policies. You should have a high level of communication, organisational and leadership skills and have the ability to work within a team, with partner agencies and on your own initiative.

If successful your key tasks include offering high level support and advice to Health staff; be actively involved in multi-agency Initial Referral Discussions; deliver specialist child protection training to health staff and contribute to the delivery of multi-agency training. Another core task is the coordination and facilitation of group and case specific child protection clinical supervision within a variety of settings across NHS Fife delivered to a range of health-care professionals.

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an appropriately experienced nurse to lead the Surgical High Dependency Unit within Critical Care. The department has 8 beds and works closely with the Intensive Care unit (9 beds) and the Medical High Dependency unit (8beds) and benefits from a dedicated multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with the 2 other Critical Care Senior Charge Nurses.

As a skilled and experienced nursing professional you will evidence the ability to provide clinical leadership to the nursing team ensuring the delivery of person centred, high quality care in a safe and effective clinical environment. Team focused you will manage the performance and develop the skill set of your nursing team of 26 WTE.

It is essential you are a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and have evidence of continuing professional development to degree level or working towards. We are seeking to recruit a Lead Colorectal Cancer Nurse Specialist This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse You should be educated to nursing degree level. The post will be predominately Monday to Friday.You will have responsibility:

• To provide professional and clinical leadership in the speciality of Colorectal Nursing

• To ensure patients with suspected and confirmed Colorectal Cancer receive appropriate levels of support, education and advice while undergoing diagnosis and treatment

• To act as a clinical nurse specialist in the care of colorectal / stoma patients throughout patients journey from referral to discharge and on a continuing basis as appropriate

• To prevent re-admission to hospital by recognising colorectal/stoma/SACT related consequences and complications and working collaboratively with the AO/ Acute medical team to ensure an effective management plan with timeously communication with regional colleagues

• To provide direct psychological and informational support to patients with colorectal cancer and their families throughout the various stages of the pathway pre-diagnosis- follow up.

• To provide clear and consistent leadership to nursing staff working within the Colorectal Service.

NHS Fife Staff Wellbeing & Safety provide services to NHS Fife employees and public sector bodies including universities and colleges.

We are currently looking for an Occupational Health Nurse Adviser to join our department. This post will be based at Willow Drive in Kirkcaldy.

For this post you will have the degree or diploma in Occupational Health Nursing. You will be IT literate and have very good communication and interpersonal skills. You should have a flexible approach to work, have good time management skills and be capable of working on your own as well as part of a team. This post will be based in Kirkcaldy but travel across Fife and beyond when necessary is expected.

Consideration may be given to applicants who are nearing completion of the specialist qualification in Occupational Health Nursing. The work will involve mentoring and line management of junior members of staff including a multidisciplinary team, undertaking own and staff PDP’s; case management; attendance management; health surveillance; pre-employment screening; vaccination programmes; statutory medicals; keeping accurate records and producing statistical reports.

We are looking for an individual to join our Fife-wide team of Practice Education Facilitators (PEF) and Care Home Education Facilitator (CHEF). The Practice Education Facilitator role is crucial in influencing the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for mentors and nursing and midwifery students. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing/midwifery workforce. This includes the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment within clinical settings, where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice. This post requires an individual who can work as part of the existing team, as well as working autonomously and proactively. You will be required to be organised, flexible and have robust leadership and change management skills, for example in relation to performance review and support of mentor and students. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse range of staff and Higher Educational Institutions including representing Fife at national and regional groups.Seen as an experienced practitioner you will both lead and facilitate practice education developments (practice learning) to support staff to make the necessary changes in their practice as required by the profession and the service and in line with related standards. Working with local and national initiatives you will promote and support staff to develop using resources such as Flying Start and Effective Practitioner. You will be a registered nurse or midwife, have experience as a mentor as well as supporting development and education sessions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the Multiple Sclerosis Team in Emergency Care, within the organisation. The DMT MS service has been recently set up within Fife 18months ago. The service provides specialist advice, information, support and education for people with MS who would benefit from disease modifying treatments. Providing safe monitoring of these drugs. The service is a direct link to the rehabilitation service based at Cameron where a multi-disciplinary service is proved to people with MS. You will be an experienced first level registered nurse with extensive post registration experience. Evidence of ongoing professional development and be able to demonstrate relevant clinical experience. You should have proven experience and interest in MS (DMT) and multidisciplinary team management of long term conditions. You will have responsibility for management of a caseload with complex care needs. An interest in community services and the ability to rise to the challenge of working within an evolving care environment is essential. Individuals work pro rata 5 days out of 7.

We are in the unique position in NHS Fife to be supported by the only Musculoskeletal Consultant in the East of Scotland and we have extended scope practitioners in the following specialities; foot and ankle, spinal, shoulder, hand and knees. You will have the opportunity to work with the Musculoskeletal Fife wide network to enhance your own development and that of the MSK service.

For both areas you should be educated to a diploma/degree level. You will have completed at least 4 musculoskeletal rotations and display excellent practical and theoretical knowledge. Additionally you must evidence good communication and strong organisational and IT skills.

The Intermediate Care Service provides rehabilitation and enablement to the adult population within the locality. This will be delivered to service users as in-patients (East only), out-patients or within their own home.

The primary function of this role will be to work with the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy & Nursing Services within Intermediate Care to deliver therapeutic treatment programmes to service users in the ward setting (East only) or their own homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital. Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists & Nursing will provide specialist assessments to this patient group and allocate work to this post holder. This post will primarily deal with the function of daily care in the community, a service provided 365 days of the year from 0800-2200.

You will have an SVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Experience working as a support worker would be desirable. It would be desirable to have experience working with older people as they are the main group of service users referred.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team you will be expected to carry out ongoing treatment programmes for a mixed caseload of mainly older people.

You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as well as within the team.

There may be occasions where you will be required to work in one of the other community hospital sites within the Division therefore the ability to travel throughout the area is essential

You will require to work the hours flexibly over 7 days. Our service offers regular supervision, PDP and supports training opportunities.

You will work in the new state of the art Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65,000.

As an EM consultant group we believe strongly in providing a sustainable work/life balance. The job plan includes a PA for each on call. Clinical administration time has been factored in as per RCEM guidance. There is a 24 hour middle grade rota with no gaps.

We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target. We have an excellent relationship and collaborate closely with all in-patient teams. As a department we are committed to teaching and providing a positive experience of EM to our junior doctors. If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health

outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on

NHS Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. A significant programme of staff training and development will be a feature of this project.
