DESCRIPTION

The biggest group of 45 young media makers from 20 countries met in Bolzano/Bozen, Italy for three workshops at the same time: Humanities, Renewable Energy and Environment at European Academy EURAC.It was the third meeting and the third, the fourth and the fifth workshops in the framework of My Science Program. Study visits started on 22nd and last till 27th February 2010.

Article Structure

Mumiya mia! We knocked our best heads together to come up with what could possibly be some of

the most incisive questions on mummy studies ever asked, and then put them to our

resident expert, Albert Zink, Head of the Institute for Mummies and the Iceman.

The most important question first: Have you

seen “The Mummy”?

Zink: I think so. Is that the movie about the

Egyptian mummy that comes back to life?

That’s the one. Would you describe it as scientifically

factual?

Zink: No. Mummies don’t come back to

life. But it is true that mummies are always

trying to tell us something. Mummies

have secrets in their tissues that

are a resource for modern medicine. In

this way, perhaps, mummies are still very

much alive and kicking.
