8-Bay Shadow Server

The Valerus VMS software is COTS (customer-off-the-shelf) compatible. However, Vicon offers factory certified, pre-installed Servers, which saves valuable installation time and reduces the overall system cost, as well as providing one source for technical support. The Shadows are available in 1U (4-bay), 2U (8-bay) and 4U (24-bay) versions. See the table below.

Valerus can be deployed in different configuration depending on system size and logistical deployment; configurations include standalone system on a single PC (all-in-one), a centralized site running multiple servers or a central site running multiple remote recording servers (NVRs) and cameras.

This datasheet focuses on the Valerus Shadow Recording Server with internal RAID storage; the other servers each have individual datasheets.

The components of a complete Valerus VMS are: Application/Web Server: This is the brains of the system, where the database is active and all system programming is stored. This can be used as an all-in-one server on systems with up to 100 cameras, a recording server as well as the application server. Each system requires only one Application Server. Refer to datasheet dedicated specifically to Application Server and Viewing Station.Recording Servers: All Recording Servers (NVRs) record and provide playback; each is capable of recording a specific number or cameras based on its specification. The Shadow NVR provides additional internal RAID storage. Refer to chart below. Details on standard NVRs are available on a separate datasheet. Client Viewing Station: With this thin-client topology, client viewing stations can be on any PC Microsoft® Internet Explorer 11 minimum. Refer to datasheet dedicated specifically to Application Server and Viewing Station.
