VALLEY FORGEBy: Josh and Lucas
Valley Forge is the site of a six month encampment of the Continental Army of the newly formed U.S.A. under the command of General George Washington a few miles from Philadelphia. Valley Forge was founded the winter of 1777.
George Washington and the Continental Army fought for freedom from British rule.
The Americans didn’t want to pay taxes and be ruled by England.
Valley Forge was the place where soldiers were trained.
Soldiers were cold, hungry and had no clothes but didn’t give up because they believed in freedom from England.
