Why Frequency in Advertising Works
Vancouver’s Favourite Newspaper Since 1908
Promotional Calendar & Planner
2010
The power of repetition reinforces the advertiser’s message• A common mistake in advertising is to stop a campaign before it’s had a chance to work. An advertising campaign is a planned appeal to the client’s potential customers, using the power of repetition.
• Advertising is like dating. One encounter does not make a relationship. You have to invest time to reap any benefit. We all know that you have to see an ad a few times before you recognize the company and what it’s advertising.
• Advertisers who run individual ads miss the opportunity to have all of their ads work together in a sustained campaign to win ever-lasting customers.
• New advertisers often have unrealistic expectations for advertising. They expect to run one or two ads, and double their business. Advertising is an investment which must be well planned and consistent.
• Consistency, plus frequency, equals payoff for your business!

Old world design has been
updated to meet the needs of
today’s families in this year’s
landmark 75th PNE Prize
Home (www.pne.ca). The
design harkens to the past, but includes a
host of contemporary finishes and features
that root it firmly in the present.
Spacious light-filled rooms characterize
the two-storey craftsman-style prize home
that boasts more than 3,000 square feet
of living area, awash in a perfect blend of
soft, muted earth tones like those found
in Kelowna, B.C., where the home will be
relocated.
“Careful attention was given to the exte-
rior of the home to ensure the materi-
als selected were reflective of the subtle
colour and textural variations found in the
B.C. Okanagan landscape,” said interior
design coordinator Barbara Aylesworth.
“This theme was carried into the home
and can be found throughout the spacious,
comfortable rooms.“
The 75th annual PNE Prize Home is unique
this year in that each room is created by a
different designer. The team of designers
worked together with their unique visions,
yet made a beautiful house that flows
together.
“People are looking for a style that is
anchored by the comforts of the past, while
still delivering modern convenience and
efficiency,” said Aylesworth on the popu-
larity of the craftsman style.
Camille Savage from Vancouver is a fea-
tured designer in the 75th annual PNE
Prize Home. Camille lent her inspiration to
the Great Room and the foyer in this Okan-
agan-inspired house. Look inside…

What is the new black for
this year? Is it deep purple?
Is it peacock teal? Is it
rich raspberry, burgundy
or plum? Perhaps earth
tones are in... or pumpkin is
making a comeback (well,
we can probably live without
that!).
Whatever your colour wheel
prefences are, there are
styles and designs to fit
almost any taste (and body
type).
Our Fresh fashion review
gives you a sampling of big-
