Getting Started – Creating your home page Go to: http://wiki.monroe.k12.nj.us/

Click on the lock to sign in using your Monroe username and password When you are logged in, the lock should appear “unlocked”

Click the plus sign to create new content. New page in my documents – to create a new webpage New file in my documents – put a file into the pool of content that can be used*

Name your website with an appropriate Page Title and click “Add”

This will bring you to a webpage that you can start editing.

The Toolbar Attach a File OR You can simply drag the file to the workspace.

Attach a picture OR You can simply drag the file to the workspace.

Add an audio or movie file.

Insert a table. To insert another column, hover over the top of the grid and an arrow will appear. Click on the arrow on the created grid and a menu will appear. Choose “Add column before” to add another column to the left. “Add column after” to add another column to the right.

Follow similar directions for adding rows.

Insert a hyperlink. OR You can simply drag the file to the workspace.

To insert a page on your profile to sub folders (such as classes that you have)

Enter the URL (web address) in the first rectangle Enter the name of the page you wish to create in the “Link Text” Your profile page is the homepage and you can create unlimited subpages that can be accessed through this portal. You can access each link.

Be sure to SAVE your work frequently.

After you save, click the pen to edit the space again.

Go to “Documents” to see a list of your files and webpages.

To Access Other Teachers’ Wikis To access the “Staff Webpages” site. Click on the rectangle in the top left corner. This will bring up a menu. Click “People” if you would like to see a list of staff members and would like to access their home page.

Click “Wikis” if you would like to see a list of portals that the school has created.

Adjusting Read/Write Settings for Students To enable access for others to view. Click on “Sharing” To Edit Settings Click on “Edit”

You will have options for three categories: Yourself (owner) All logged in users (this will be students) All guests (anyone on the internet) The Options: Read – the viewer can just browse the website but cannot edit Read & Write– the viewer can just browse the website and can edit No Access – the viewer cannot view or edit the website
