Visions ‘Academy in Italy’ offers excellent tour options with a unique cultural blend! Our Italian Centre of Excellence is

based in Northern Italy, by the beautiful and tranquil Lake Garda. This inspirational location is idyllic for school groups

wanting to learn in a stimulating environment, in the shadow of olive groves and vineyards flourishing in the Italian

sunshine!

Our Italian Academy Tours include 5 tailor-made Master Classes inclusive of Drama, Dance, Art and Music. Schools may

elect to participate in variety of selections that incorporate all four disciplines, or may elect to study only one or two

disciplines for Master Class sessions. Workshop contents are developed between you, the Party Leader, and our European

team of professional tutors to provide the specific training and instruction in the areas you are seeking and creating a

personalized programme to suit your individual needs. Classes are 1.5-hours in length and are instructed by our

specialized teams.

All of our Italian Academy tours include a full-day excursion to magical Venice! With its calm canals, gliding gondolas and

boutique shops, Venice is a definite favourite with our groups and will inspire your students to be creative while

Day 1

Dinner at hotel

Travel to your hotel located in beautiful Lake Garda, the gateway to the Italian Alps. Upon arrival, your Visions

Ambassador will conduct an in-depth welcome, safety and orientation meeting followed by an excellent dinner

in the hotel.

Lake Garda - Lake Garda is Italy's largest and most visited lake. The lake is 51km long but only 17km wide at its

widest point in the south. Picturesque villages, medieval castles, and lakeside promenades dot the shoreline.

The lake has a diverse landscape with beaches along the southern shores and rocky cliffs above the northern

shoreline. Lake Garda is known for its clear water; great for swimming in the summer. Windsurfing, sailing,

and hiking in the many parks are popular activities.

Lake Garda is situated in northern Italy between Venice and Milan and set in an alpine region formed by

glaciers at the end of the last ice age. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the provinces of Verona

(to the south-east), Brescia (south-west), and Trento (north). Being easily accessible from the north via the

Brenner Pass, the lake is a major tourist destination including a number of exclusive hotels and resorts along its

shore. The Dolomite Mountains are not far away and can be seen towering above the lake.

Day 2

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Good morning Italy! After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll embark upon our first Master Classes!

Master Classes 1 & 2 – Before the start of the tour, teachers will have spoken to our Academy specialists to

discuss and agree upon the programme contents of all Master Classes, the goals and the specific instruction

given. Teachers may opt to have all classes in one discipline, or may elect to have a variety of disciplines

inclusive of Dance, Drama, Art and Music. All classes are instructed by our European team of tutors and are

1.5-hours in length.

After a buffet lunch at the hotel, students will enjoy a discovery tour of Lake Garda Lazise before embarking

upon our third Master Class!

Lake Garda Lazise - Lazise, on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda, has very old origins. The name Lazise comes

from the Latin word ‘lacus’ which means ‘village on the lake’. In fact, Lazise used to be both a place where

there were lake-dwellings besides a Roman suburb, a market and a prestigious castle in the Middle Ages.

Lazise has many interesting churches, among these is the Romanesque church of San Niccolo (XII century) near

the port. The most evident building in Lazise, which was known as the Customs of Veneto, used to be an

arsenal for ship maintenance. After the reconstruction during the last years, the building began to be used for

holding congresses. Villa Pergolana, located at the end of the lakeside, towards Bardolino, was built in

renaissance style in the XIV century.

After many years, Lazise as well the other towns on the lake, made lots of changes: from a small and poor

town made up of fisherman and farmers to a very important tourist centre full of hotels and restaurants,

allowing it to become one of the favourite destinations on Lake Garda.

professional tutors. We encourage all school groups to delve into the unique culture of Italian Arts and the

Commedia dell’Arte, allowing for instruction in the areas that correlate to this wonderful destination!



After our workshops, we’ll be able to enjoy a brilliant dinner in the hotel leaving the late evening open for a

moonlit walk or a variety of wonderful evening activities! Evening activities may be booked directly with your

Visions Tour Ambassador and include options such as Benacus Amusement Park - an amusement arcade with

bowling, go-carting and laser tag; karaoke night, disco night or a fun evening in with a school quiz night.

Day 3

Good morning Italy! After a great breakfast, we’ll start the day off with our final two Master Classes.

Master Class 4 & 5 – choose from disciplines in Dance, Drama, Music & Art instructed by our European team of

professional tutors.

Following our workshops, we’ll have a leisurely lunch. This afternoon, we’ll be heading to another of Italy’s

great sights – Verona!

Verona – Well known as the setting for the story of Romeo and Juliet, historic Verona is a tangle of its storied

past and modern industry. One of the most powerful cities during the early rule of the Roman Empire, the old

city of Verona is one of the best-preserved sections in the country. The city of Verona has much to offer for

sightseeing, even for those who are not Shakespeare enthusiasts. Unlike most of the larger cities in the

country, you are likely to find only a small percentage of tourists in historic Verona.

Built along the Adige River and the later home of Dante Alighieri, the city boasts a number of beautiful sights

amongst its circuitous streets. The scenic mausoleum of Arche Scaligere houses outdoor tombs bordered by

evil-looking iron gates and is the final resting place of the Scaligeri princes, city leaders well known as both

great warriors and great patrons of the arts. The Arena di Verona is the third largest arena in Italy, and should

not be missed! Despite being constructed in 30 AD, much of the original architecture remains, and the

amphitheatre still houses opera productions throughout the summer. Castelvecchio is a military fortress that

has been transformed into an art museum, renowned for providing shelter to many significant works of art in a

strictly medieval setting.



As you can imagine, seeing a performance of the story of Romeo and Juliet in its true setting is a staple of most

travellers' visit to the city, and the summer months bring about Verona's famous Shakespeare festival, which

includes performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company. To further the legend of the doomed lovers who

may or may not have actually existed, tourists can see the houses of the families that the two were said to

Following are some suggested sights to visit in Verona:

Arena di Verona - The Verona Arena (Arena di Verona) is a Roman

amphitheatre which is famous for Opera and also, one of the best preserved

structures of its kind. The building was built in AD 30 on a site which at the

time was outside of the city walls. The ludii (shows and games) staged there

were so famous that spectators came from many other places, sometimes

very distant. The amphitheatre could host more than 30,000 spectators.

Thanks to its outstanding acoustics, the building lends itself to musical

Giardini Giusti – The Giusti Garden contains all the features of a typical Renaissance garden: geometrical

layout of flowerbeds and hedgerows, fountains, grottos, mask, mythological statues, avenues of cypresses and

a maze. Mozart, Goethe, kings and emperors have all visited this garden, which for four centuries has been

one of the most beautiful and well-visited in the whole of the Veneto. The garden, designed by Agostino Giusti

as a setting for the villa which bears his name, is made up of three sections: a lawn, a wooded hill with a ravine

and cliff and landscaped terraces with a belvedere.

Piazza delle Erbe - The Forum, the centre of city life during

Roman times, was situated here at Piazza delle Erbe and has

continued to fill this same role for centuries: meeting place, home

to the market, and also home to the city's administration. In fact,

just like many other sites in Verona, the Piazza delle Erbe is one of

the most historical and picturesque city squares in the whole

country.

Located between the Via Mazzini and the Corso Porta Borsari, the

Piazza delle Erbe stands where the ancient Roman forum was

once located. Once a place where chariot races were held, it is

now the site for the local market. Piazza delle Erbe is literally

translated as the Square of Herbs. As the name implies, you can

find all sorts of herbs in the marketplace. Nowadays, herbs are

not the only things of value you can buy in the market. Anything

from clothes, refreshments, and souvenir items are sold in the

numerous stalls scattered around the market square.

Juliet's House (Casa di Giulietta) - “Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our

scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.”

Who doesn’t know about the love story between Romeo and Juliet? Immortalized by Shakespeare in the first

line of his play, Verona holds the claim to having the house of perhaps the greatest lovers in history. Of

course, there is much debate as to whether the lovers existed or not but that hasn’t stopped hundreds of

thousands of tourists from wanting to see the Casa di Giulietta, or Juliet’s House.

The dell Capello family owned the house on Via Capello for a many years. In fact, it

is the similarity of their name that spurned the popular belief that this was the

house of the Capulets in Shakespeare’s play. The dell Capello’s coat-of-arms can

still be seen on the keystone of the inner archway in the courtyard. From the

courtyard you can see Juliet’s Balcony. This is supposedly the very same balcony

where the tragic heroine cried out to her Romeo. These days, do not be surprised

to see many a young girl standing on the balcony, probably dreaming her own

dreams.

Day 4

Breakfast, Packed Lunch & Dinner

Rise and shine Lake Garda! Today we’re off to explore fabulous Venice! After breakfast, we’ll board our

private motorcoach and head to the city, approximately 2-hours, to discover this incredible region! Home to

gondolas and mask making, beautiful blown glass and unbelievable history; this city is fabulous!

Venice – Venice, gateway to the Orient, is one of the few cities in the world that can be truly described as

unique. Over an extraordinarily long period, the city was embellished with monuments of rare splendour that

today make it a tourist attraction like none other in the entire world...

Venice makes you a believer in fairy tales. Cars are banned, so the only way to get around the 1,500-year-old

city is by foot or by water. From these vantage points, you'll be awed by the magical beauty! La Serenissima,

‘the most serene one’, is filled with palaces and art, fine shopping and excellent food. Relax in Saint Marks

Square, visit the basilicas, have an Italian Ice and wander the alleyways and bridges.

Venice is a city in northern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto, and has a population of approximately

271,251. Together with Padua, the city is included in the Padua-Venice Metropolitan Area (population

1,600,000). Venice has been known by many names including the ‘City of Water,’ ‘City of Bridges,’ and ‘The

City of Light.’ It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast

Italy. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave



(north) Rivers. The population estimate of 272,000 inhabitants includes the population of the whole Comune

of Venezia; around 62,000 in the historic city of Venice; 176,000 in Terraferma (the Mainland), and 31,000 live

on other islands in the lagoon.

The Venetian Republic was a major maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and a staging

area for the Crusades and the Battle of Lepanto, as well as a very important centre of commerce (especially

silk, grain and spice trade) and art in the 13th century up to the end of the 17th century.

SELF-GUIDED WALKING TOUR - Schools will arrive in Venice and then take a water taxi to the Bridge of Sighs

and Saint Marks Square. Upon arrival, groups may orchestrate their own self-guided walking tour OR elect to

be entertained with a 3-hour guided walking tour with a professional Venetian Guide, and afterwards, have

2-hours to explore the streets, shops, sights and smells in this delightful city! The choice is yours. General

costs for the 3-hour guided tour are approximately €130, however rates are subjects to change and specific

costs will be confirmed at the time of booking.

The Bridge of Sighs - Perhaps when it comes to romance, Venice could claim the label of ‘most romantic city in

the world.’ Its tight streets wind through the city in tandem with coursing waterways all set amongst some of

the most stunning architecture. Spanning the Palazzo Rio, or Palace River, is the historically eerie Venice

Bridge of Sighs. Tales of local legend says that lovers will be assured eternal love if they kiss on a gondola at

sunset under the bridge. Thus, it was thought by many that the Bridge of Sighs name was inspired by the sighs

of lovers overwhelmed by the romance of it all. However, beautiful and endearing as that may be, it is for

much darker reasons that the Bridge of Sighs takes its name.

This bridge at Venice was built at the beginning of the 17th century with the

purpose of connecting the Old Prisons and interrogation rooms in the Doge's

Palace, or Palace of the Dukes, to the New Prisons just across the river. Situated

just off the side of Saint Marks Plaza, the Bridge of Sighs is one of the most

famous scenes of the city and its beauty masks what was likely a devastating last

walk for many condemned prisoners. Inspired by Romantic literature and one of

the most romantic of visiting northern European poets, Lord Byron, the Bridge of

Sighs name is actually borne of the notion that one could hear the sighs of these

prisoners as they looked one last time upon the outside world before being

locked up.

St. Mark's Basilica - The mightiest of Venetian monuments, the one that really shows the greatness of Venice,

is undoubtedly the Basilica of San Marco. It was built over several centuries, frequently transformed and

enriched with precious treasures, often from the Far East. Its architecture, a mixture of Byzantine, Roman and

Venetian, is the work of artists and craftsmen from around the world. It can be considered a real laboratory, a

living organism, developing and transforming over the centuries.



The story goes that Mark, one the four Evangelists together with Luke,

Mathew and John, was given the task by Peter, of writing his Gospel and

did so in Rome. The Venetians chose him as their patron saint because

of his ties with Rome thus declaring their independence of the

Byzantine Church. Venetian merchants along the Eastern routes often

stopped at Alexandria to pray on the saint's tomb. And it was in 828

A.D. that two Venetian merchants stole his remains and brought them

back to Venice by ship, after hiding them in a chest full of vegetables

and pork to avoid strict Muslim control. When the saint's body reached

Venice it was welcomed in triumph and the Doge had a new church built

as his tomb.

The Basilica was supposed to be inspired by the Byzantine model, the ancient Church of the Apostles in

Constantinople. The Doge's decision turned out to be a strategic, decisive choice for Venice's prosperity as in

that time of the Middle Ages, owning a saint's remains meant great earnings for a city. As there were twelve

Apostles but only four Evangelists, owning the ‘entire body’ of one of them was a benefit to Venice. The

symbol of St Mark, a winged lion armed with a sword, became the city's emblem. A simple symbol to

represent civil virtues, strength and courage.

Doge’s Palace - If you imagine landing in Venice from the sea, as did those who

came inland by ship, the first thing you see rising out of the water is the

unmistakable shape of the Doge's Palace - the city's most famous building. The

Palace is the most representative symbol of Venice's culture, which, together with

the Basilica of San Marco at the back and the Piazzetta in the forefront, forms one

of the most famous sceneries in the world. For centuries the Doge's Palace had

three fundamental roles: as the Doge residence, the seat of government and as the

palace of justice. This was where some of the most important decisions for

Venice's, and even Europe's, destiny were taken.

Rialto Bridge - The Rialto Bridge is the most famous of the bridges that cross the Grand Canal. At first a simple

bridge of boats, and later a real wooden bridge made from two inclined ramps with a mobile section in the

middle, in order to allow the passage of ships. The current Rialto Bridge, a stone arch, was constructed

between 1588 and 1591.

When Venice was a marine power that navigated and traded throughout a good part of the modern world, big

cargo ships coming from many other countries stopped here in order to unload and sell their merchandise.

Here gathered Venetians with silk and spices from the Orient, traders from Lombardy and Florence who

offered work in metal and textiles, together with Germans and many others coming from other parts of Italy

and from across the Alps. Today the Rialto Bridge is one of the most visited tourist attractions of the city.



The Grand Canal - The Canale Grande, known to English-speaking visitors as the Grand Canal, is the main

aquatic thoroughfare in central Venice. The ‘S’-shaped waterway follows an ancient riverbed from the

Tronchetto parking island, the Piazzale Roma transit centre, and the Santa Lucia railroad station to Piazza San

Marco and St. Mark's Basin. The canal is about 2.5 miles long, with a width that varies from 98 to 230 feet.

The best way to see the canal is to ride a water taxi from the Piazzale

Roma or the railroad station in the direction of Saint Marks. As the

water taxi zigzags between stops on both sides of the canal during its

40-minute journey from the Piazzale Roma to San Zaccaria, you'll pass

under three bridges and see dozens of palaces that were built from

the 12th to 18th Centuries. Another way to see the canal is from the

bridges that cross it. Go to the top of any bridge, find a place at the

railing, and watch the constant stream of vaporetti, barges, water

taxis, police boats, ambulances, gondolas as they float by.

Following our day in this outstanding city, we’ll travel back to our hotel for dinner and then enjoy the

remainder of the evening casually or, perhaps we’ll opt for dancing the night away with a teen disco!

Day 5

Good morning Italy! Today is our last day in beautiful Lake Garda! After breakfast and dependent upon travel

times, we’ll start packing our bags and begin to say goodbye to this awesome region as we head off for home;

taking memories with us that will last forever!

Day Excursion to Milan, Italy – Milan is a city that arouses extreme feelings. A frenetic, restless rhythm is part

of both work and leisure, so much so that it is difficult to stay unmoved and not get overwhelmed by the

cultural and social stimulus. Maybe for this reason, Milan makes itself indispensable as they say it is

impossible to feel so alive and full of energy when you are away from this city. Milan is always one step ahead:

a laboratory of artistic experiments and a building site for social behaviour that is continuously changing. A

city full of contradictions, ancient and modern, trends and counter-trends, fashion and underground, middle

class and working class, but always simply ‘cool.’

Milan is the biggest city of North Italy; the powerhouse of the country and

one of the most stylish cities of the planet. The now and the next are

invented daily in Milan, Europe's creative capital. Until Milan led the way,

who knew that happy hour could last four hours, that clothing and

household appliances could be made out of basketry, and that coffee could

make a delicious pasta sauce? This city is all about worldly pleasures.

Shopping is of quasi-religious significance. Theatre and cinema flourish in

this fashionable milieu, as does a hopping club scene and a slew of

tempting restaurants. Apart from a few gems, the city is not renowned for

its looks; it's lifestyle that counts.



It’s also a city with many important museums and wonderful monuments. While visiting, make sure to see the

Castello Sforzesco, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (which displays Leonardo’s Last Supper), the Brera

Museum (Madonna and Child and Pieta by Bellini), and many other museums, monuments and churches.

Being the fashion capital, you might run into a top model or designer. And if you have money to spend, just

make a visit in via Montenapoleone and via della Spiga where you’ll find boutiques by Gucci, Ferragamo,

Valentino, Armani, Ferre, Fendi and others. Look for other famous designer labels and items such as shoes,

Day Excursion to Gardaland Theme Park – Situated on the banks of Lake

Garda and in the centre of northern Italy, Gardaland has represented an

important point of reference for entertainment for more than twenty years,

suitable for all ages for both Italian and foreign visitors. Located only 12 miles

from Verona, Gardaland is the biggest amusement park in Italy and attracts

more than 3 million visitors every year. Blending all the attractions of a top

class water park with roller coasters, shows and family attractions, Gardaland

is a perfect day out for anyone visiting the north of Italy.

Gardaland has 113 acres of rides, shows and attractions in ten themed areas. The amusement park's 40

attractions include four roller coasters, two water rides, a vertical free-fall ride, and a selection of high-energy

thrill rides. The Gardaland Theatre hosts a number of Broadway-inspired shows while Time Voyagers takes

riders on an ‘extra-sensorial’ journey through time. Other highlights include the Corsairs, a boat trip around a

tropical island fully equipped with sea monsters and Spanish pirates, and Blue Tornado, a roller coaster in

which riders sit in a replica jet plane. Space Vertigo is the requisite 130-foot free-fall ride, while the Jungle
