Standard insulation For motors with standard insulation, the
permissible peak voltages at the connecting terminals must not
exceed the limit curve shown in Fig. 7 of DIN VDE 0530-17:2007-12
(IEC/TS 60034-17:2006). If the permissible peak voltage is not
observed, it is either necessary to provide a filter at the
converter output or use a motor with enhanced insulation.
Enhanced winding insulation Operation on a frequency converterup
to 500 V without filter
Motors of the design series IE2-WU.. possess enhanc-ed winding
insulation to permit operation of the motor on frequency converters
for mains voltages up to 500 V without filter. From IEC size 315,
insulated bearings are used on the non-drive side as standard, and
the insu-lation of the PTC thermistors is adapted to the higher
withstand voltage of the winding.
Subject to limitation of the impulse voltages to the
cor-responding maximum permissible values, motors of the design
series IE2-WU.. are also well suited for operation on 690 V
converters.
