New Standards for Training

Packages • Training packages must now meet the new Standards

for Training Packages.

• All training packages must comply with the Standards by

31 December 2015.

– Note: A number of training packages have not yet been

endorsed by the AISC, so there is some delay in implementation

• New format for Units of Competency (UoCs)

• Assessment Requirements for each UoC will be

contained in a separate document

• TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

(Appendix 2 – Schedule 1(Page 98) – Schedules to the Standards for

• a qualification in adult education at a diploma or higher level.

• Vocational competencies to the level being delivered and assessed

• Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment

being provided

TAE update • Changes are to be made to the training package due

to a request from ASQA and the DET.

– Three existing units of competency have been modified:

• TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes

• TAEASS402 Assess competence

• TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation

– Additional units will be added to the core. A LLN unit and one

relating to assessment design.

• The changes were endorsed and the revised

qualification is on training.gov.au

• ASQA has published advice regarding

implementation.

Rules for Task Selection

• Use at least two of the task types

– You can have two of the same task type, but not all

three tasks can be the same task type

• Aim at an even spread of hours across the

units of competency, where possible

• Units of competency can’t be split across task

• Separate evidence is required for each task

• Students must submit their own material

Transition to the new version

of the Training Package • Once endorsed by AISC the TP is uploaded to the

national register.

• RTOs have 12 months to transition to delivering the new

training product, once published on the national register.

• The VCAA will endeavour to transition to the new TP

within 12 months.
