One, two, three strikes - youre out!

    2 Via Christi Village Celebration

Whether it used to be playedin your yard, the corner lot,an empty field or at school, itwas always, for its one, two, three strikes, youre out! atthe old ball game.

April 5 began our opening dayfor Baseball Week. What aweek it was... with baseballbanners to ball caps, peanutsto cracker jacks, hot dogs tobubble gum, it was a fun timefor all!

Opening day began withsinging the national anthem(as well as Take Me Out tothe Ball Game) and the pick-ing of teams. The residentswere on one of two teams:Legends or Historians.

Joanne Rogers, administra-tor, threw out the first balland the competition began.

The teams competed in bat-ting, pitching and catching.

They also enjoyed baseballtrivia and word games, with adifferent baseball activityeach morning and afternoon.

The week ended with the His-torians winning the serieswith a rematch from the Leg-ends planned for next season.

    How in touchare you with

your senses? At the end ofApril, webegan a seriesthat has to dowith our basic

senses, all fiveof them: sight, hearing, taste, smell andtouch. How-ever, weadded anotherbasic essential - a sense ofhumor. With that said, it onlymade sense to have an activ-ity for each. The residentssensed that somethingsmelledfishy. They sawnoth-ing out of the ordinary, yetthey heardthere was some-thing new on the horizon. Theresidents are touchedwithgladness when theres an ac-tivity they enjoy, for each ac-tivity is done with good tasteand their sense of humorin-tact.

    Trivia Hour

How we love trivia! Do you re-member what curb whiskersare? What a skate key was

used for? What method didwomen adapt to look as ifthey were wearing stockingswhen none were available inWorld War II? There are just afew samples of questions dur-ing our trivia hour. These ac-tivities bring back many fondmemories that the residentsare able to share.

It was the Historians vs. the Legends as Villagers enjoyed celebrating

    Baseball Week in April.

    Something new, different, and fun!
