Another Step Towards Having a Windmill Factory As a Neighbour

As you will probably know by now ABP and Siemens have both submitted an outline planning permission to the Hull City Council for ABP to make changes to Alexander Dock and for Sie-mens to build a factory on the site. The two companies have progressed and come to a fur-ther memorandum of understanding regarding the site.

Whilst the audience, children, Miss Stow, Mr Stothard went wild with excitement, it is fair to say that the loudest cheer ever heard came out of Mrs Juggins mouth. Chil-dren – you think our Key Stage 2 Co-ordinator is loud when she (rarely, and only when very cross) shouts? You should have heard this! The choir were asked back onto the stage where they were greeted with more rapturous applause and presented with the trophy. Victoria Dock Primary School choir  were asked to close the show by giving a final per-formance of their set; their last chance to just 'let loose' and really enjoy the buzz of performing – which they all did (Miss. Stow  in-cluded!)

All in all it was a great night supported by so many of the parents, friends and choir-supporters. A great deal of money was raised, all of which will go to help children less fortunate than ours. What a fabu-lous, feel-good night was had by all! With interviews on BBC Radio Humberside and Look North since the night, who knows what the future has in store for our most fabulous Victoria Dock Primary School Choir? Miss Stow is a very, very proud Choir Mistress! As is all of the staff at the school. Denham Kite Head Teacher.

(cont) Following weeks of rehearsals, the choir arrived at the theatre looking smart, confident and ready to enjoy their perform-ance. The numerous performances the choir have given in the last few months (particularly back in June with The Drifters) have enabled the children to attend such shows with very little apprehension at all – they just seem to ooze confidence! With the sound check going well and the show about to start, the children, along with Choir Leader, Miss. Stow and helpers Mrs. Jug-gins and Mr. Stothard, were shown to a room backstage where all were able to watch the live TV show alongside another school, Kirkella St. Andrews. As Victoria Dock Choir's performance time ap-proached, the two schools warmed-up their voices together; Victoria Dock children taught St. Andrews their warm-ups and vice-versa. All the children enjoyed this and the sound that was created by more than 60 was fabulous!

Shortly after 8 o’clock, a member of the back-stage crew came up to collect the Victoria Dock children for their big moment. As they were led downstairs to the main stage, nerves crept in and the children became (unusually) subdued. However, once out on the stage, it was “Lights! Cam-era! Action!” and all signs of niggling ap-prehension were long gone. The children sang a medley of three songs: a Medieval folk song with a haunting drum beat and sullen melodic undertones; a jazzy Be-Bop song with Pudsey Bear lyrics; and con-cluded their programme with Jesse J’s 'Stand Up', complete with some simple but effective choreographed moves. Surpass-ing themselves in their performance, when the children ended they received the most incredible round of applause that left both the children and Miss Stow alike beaming from ear to ear. The three judges, including an actress from Emmerdale, had nothing but praise for the children’s singing, mo-ments and enthusiasm. On leaving the stage, one comment heard by the leader of one of our opponents was “They’re the ones to beat…” And that they certainly were!

Once all the choirs had performed and returned to the stage for a final round of applause, all choirs were collectively ush-ered into the side hall where all the choirs eagerly awaited the announcement of the winning choir. After moments of intense anticipation, the evening’s compere said “And the winner is Victoria Dock Primary School.

The Timber DockThe brewery have decided to rename the TD is now to be called Goldcrest. Several resi-dents are opposed to this and an alternative name of The Citadel has been proposed.About 1.2 million is being spent on the whole property. They are to extend the inside area by adding a piece onto the Plimsoll Way cor-ner. The kitchen is being extensively ex-tended and a complete new kitchen is to be made. A tremendous amount of concrete and piles have been put in the car park. The Area Manager tells me they expect to open again on the 20 February. The new managers are Tony and Donna Hill who many people will already know, they used to be at Three John Scotts. We look forward to welcoming them early next year.People who worked there will be considered for new posts when they are advertised. Re-cruitment of Chefs is underway.
