I FiberWire Suture Family06
FiberWire® suture is constructed of a multi-stranded long chain ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) core with a braided jacket of polyester and UHMWPE that gives FiberWire superior strength, soft feel and abrasion resistance that is unequaled in orthopaedic surgery. Suture breakage during knot tying is virtually eliminated, especially critical during arthroscopic procedures. FiberWire represents a major advancement in orthopaedic surgery.
■ Strength FiberWire has greater strength than comparable size standard polyester suture. Multiple independent scientific studies document significant increases in strength to failure, stiffness, knot strength and knot slippage with much less elongation .1
■ Biocompatibility Extensive biocompatibility, animal and clinical testing prove that FiberWire demonstrates biocompatibility charact- eristics equivalent to standard polyester suture. Over two years of successful clinical outcomes in over one million orthopaedic procedures substantiate excellent biocompatibility. Biocompatibility, strength and testing results are available upon request .2
■ Tie Ability and Knot Profile Orthopaedic surgeons enthusiastically endorse FiberWire for its feel and knot tie ability. The first throw stays down, facilitating reproducible tissue repair. Sliding knots advance smoothly easing arthroscopic knot tying procedures. Superior strength allows tighter loop security during knot tying, increasing knot integrity while reducing the knot profile compared to standard polyester suture.
■ Abrasion Resistance The multi-strand long chain ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene core dramatically increases FiberWire abrasion resistance. Surgical procedures that create bone edges, tunnel edges, and articulating surface-abrasion areas are appropriate indications for FiberWire. FiberWire is over five times more abrasion resistant than standard polyester suture.
■ Variety The FiberWire family includes sizes 4-0 - # 5, including designs such as FiberStick and FiberSnare that provide innovative solutions to arthroscopic suture passing. TigerWire has a black spiral thread for easy arthroscopic visualization, identifi-cation, sizing and motion detection. FiberLoop® is ideal for multi-strand tendon repairs.
■ Safety in Numbers Trusted by leading orthopaedic surgeons worldwide since its introduction in 2002, FiberWire has contributed to successful surgical outcomes in over 1,000,000 orthopaedic procedures ranging from Achilles tendon repair to rotator cuff repair. Multiple scientific publications have confirmed the advantages of FiberWire in orthopaedic surgery. 1, 2

FingerShield™
The FingerShield is a woven polyester sleeve with an embedded radiopaque blue marker designed to reduce pressure-induced lacerations to the digits of the hand caused by repetitive knot tying during surgery. They slip right over sterile gloves when needed. The tips are left open to allow pinch grasp of suture strands, while still protecting the IP joint area of each digit. The soft, finger conforming weave will stand up to repetitive hand tying during a case without constraining the fingers. Suture slides over the FingerShield smoothly and effortlessly.

I TightRope12
The TightRope CCL technique was developed to provide a minimally invasive method for extracapsular stabilization of the cranial cruciate ligament-deficient canine stifle. TightRope CCL seeks to optimize the lateral suture sta-bilization technique by employing bone-to-bone fixation, an implant with superior strength and stiffness designed specifically for ligament repair, and a method for consis-tent isometric implant placement.
As such, TightRope CCL can counteract cranial tibial thrust, drawer, and internal rotation while providing optimal joint range of motion.
TightRope Benefits

Titanium Anchors
The Corkscrew and FASTak Suture Anchors were designed to provide the highest strength possible in all types of indications and to make technically demanding procedures simpler, safer and reproducible. Built-in, easy-to-use features, such as laser lines on the driver shaft ensure that the anchor has been placed at an appropriate depth and the eyelet is lined up in the correct position to pass the suture in the right direction, are just a couple examples. Combined with the high strength charac-teristics and increased abrasion resistance of FiberWire, it gives the surgeon confidence during crucial knot tying stages where suture breakage is virtually eliminated.

I Arthrex CoolCut20
The pioneering design of the CoolCut electrode tips makes it possible to operate the CoolCut series at extremely low power settings, thereby increasing patient safety with-out sacrificing performance. The reduction of the power requirements also allows for the absence of a ceramic ring surrounding the electrode face, reducing the size of the tip which aids in reaching target tissue in anatomically tight spaces.
The new line of CoolCut radio frequency devices features an innovative ergonomic handle with finger touch controls.
The 90° versions have a special shape that allows for maximum extension from the tip of the electrode to the shaft of the device, while still fitting through a 5 mm cannula. The new CoolCut shaft coating facilitates easy insertion through both working cannulas and subcutaneous tissue.

Sheathless Arthroscope
The Arthrex Sheathless Arthroscope will revolutionize the way arthroscopic procedures are performed. By eliminating bulky scope sheathes, obturators, switching sticks, and maintaining fluid inflow through operative cannulas, viewing portal changes are quick and efficient. Fluid extravasation due to repeated portal changes is minimized by maintaining operative cannulas in all portals. The Sheathless Arthroscope is designed and constructed with additional structural support along its length to stand up to normal stresses without a sheath. The Sheathless Arthroscope will reduce surgical times by expediting portal changes and eliminating distention loss.

Canine Stifle Distractors
Meniscal tears are very common among CCL-deficient dogs, so the respective examination is especially critical. Whatsoever, many tears go undetected due to lack of exposition. Arthrex developed an arthroscopically usable instrument which creates both subluxation and distraction, so both menisci can easily be examined without reposition-ing of the instrument. In short, it is a necessary tool for every surgeon dealing with CCL ruptures in the canine stifle.

Arthroscopy InstrumentsProbe Cutter, Suture Cutters
Probe Cutter
The probe cutter is an innovative 2in1 tool; the instrument has a bent up tip for meniscal defect detection, and in its cannulation, there slides a blade to allow for instant partial resection. Blade advancement is controlled via thumb handle and the integrated spring system eliminates the danger of accidental cutting and soft tissue harming by the blade during instrument insertion. Usable with one hand, the new probe cutter is the ideal tool for meniscus assess-ment and best used in conjunction with the stifle distractor.

Suture Cutters
The Suture Cutter’s precision jaws prevent knot cutting by leaving a length of reproducible suture tail, 3 mm for the 4.2 mm outer diameter cutter and 1 mm for the 2.75 mm outer diameter cutters, without direct visual control. These cutters have a special locking device to prevent premature suture cutting. The blunt tip of the cutter is excellent for knot pushing.
The open ended Suture Cutter was designed to speed up cutting which is done under direct visual control.
The FiberTape cutters were designed to cut two strands of FiberTape flush to the anchor site without direct visual control.

OATS I 43
OATS®
Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System
OATS
Osteochondral autografting has been reported success-ful in canine, equine and human cases. Autografting has been used to treat osteochondrosis, trauma, cystic lesions and other articular defects in a variety of joints. Without treatment, these conditions are typically associated with pain, lameness, decreased range-of-motion, and progres-sive osteoarthritis.
The OATS (Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System) facilitates templating of the defect, harvesting of 6, 8, and/or 10 mm cylindrical osteochondral autografts, and prepa-ration of the recipient socket(s) for press-fit fixation of one or more grafts.
The cylindrical graft is harvested and then trimmed to its optimal depth (at least 8 mm). Recipient sockets are prepared with a guide pin and size-matched cannulated reamer to the exact depth of the graft.
The size-specific system includes a marking pen w/ruler, guide pin, Cannulated Headed Reamer, dual-sided Align-ment Rod, Donor Harvester with Core Extruder, clear graft delivery tube, oversized Tamp, optional graft driver for tap-in insertion, and core extractor for removal and revision or replacement of the graft.
Two critical aspects of the OATS procedure involve the careful harvest of the graft from the optimal donor sites and accurate recipient bed preparation. Donor site choice is based on availability of nonarticulating, nonweight-bear-ing hyaline cartilage with adequate thickness and surface contour.

Canine Unicompartmental Elbow (CUE)Arthroplasty System
Canine Unicompartmental Elbow
The Canine Unicompartmental Elbow is a safe and effec-tive option for the treatment for Medial Compartment Dis-ease (MCD) for dogs in which arthroscopic treatment and nonsurgical options are no longer successful. By focusing on the specific area of disease (the medial compartment), the CUE implant provides a less invasive, bone-sparing
option for resurfacing the bone-on-bone medial compart-ment while preserving the dog’s own “good” cartilage in the lateral compartment. This medial resurfacing pro-cedure was created to reduce or eliminate the pain and lameness that is caused by the bone-on-bone grinding.

Arthrex ABPS I 49
Arthrex ABPSAutologous Blood Processing System
Arthrex ABPS
Defects in articular cartilage can induce osteoarthritis by causing molecular changes in the synovial fluid. Research in molecular biology discovered the major inducer of osteoarthritis was the general inflammatory cytokine inter-leukin-1 (IL-1) which plays a key role in accelerating tissue destruction and the repair mechanisms.
In a healthy joint, IL-1 and interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) are in balanced concentrations. In cases of osteo-arthritis, there is not sufficient IL-1Ra produced to block the destructive effects of the increased IL-1. The result is inflammation, joint pain, and eventually cartilage destruc-tion. In the Arthrex ABPS, monocytes (a type of white blood cell) bind to the glass beads. The cells are then stimulated to produce regenerative and anti-inflammatory proteins without the addition of drugs. This process takes place over an incubation period of 16-22 hours.

In the Arthrex ABPS System, mono-cytes bind to the beads stimulating the regenerative and anti-inflammatory proteins during incubation.
Introduction of Arthrex ABPS serum into the joint.
In osteoarthritis, IL-1 is produced in large amounts and binds to receptor sites on the cartilage signaling cell destruction.
The Arthrex ABPS serum has high concentrations of regenerative and inhibitory proteins that block the effects of destructive proteins like IL-1, by filling the receptors on the cartilage with IL-1Ra.
