THE ADITYA BIRLA PUBLIC SCHOOL, VERAVALBI-ANNUAL REPORT (October – March - 2012)

The period from October to March 2013, for the school, has been an enlightening journey, studded with constructive activities, the unstinted support and appreciation of the parents and co-operation and effort of the staff members.A synopsis of the developments and achievements of the school from the month of October to March in the year 2012-13 is given below.

CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS:-

Literary:-

1. ENGLISH OLYMPIADTo create a platform for the students to appear and judge their mettle of various levels of highly appreciated competitive examinations, both on National and International level, the school provided a steadfast support to the Silver Zone Foundation, an NGO and organisation of the biggest and the most popular International Olympiad.As many as 54 students of our school appeared in the first level and put their talent, knowledge, memory and skill to test and to measure their achievement in the international arena. 8 of them made it to the second level in an open competition for all the students from classes I – XII across the globe.

2. INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD OF MATHS-

Session 2011-12 was the session for great achievements. Our budding Ramanujans have created history when they rose above the sky. INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD OF MATHS in which our school was awarded with “Performance Excellence Trophy” with the great efforts of our budding Ramanujans and their gurus who guided them all the way. Master Grecil Unadkat and Nachiketa Singh secured 1st international rank and were awarded with Rs500 each and Master Gaurav Kumar who secured 1st pos. in Gujarat state was awarded with a gift.

3. NATIONAL GROUP SONG COMPETITION-

Music is all about the team co-ordination and never ending practice. It has got power to soothe our senses. We really feel proud to announce that once again the Tansens of ABPS have shown their power by grabbing the third pos. in the National Group Song Competition organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad Veraval.

4. National Science Olympiad (2012-13)

Our students have shown their excellence in National Science Olympiad. The Olympiad provides an opportunity to the students to sharpen their scientific skills. Master Anitya Kapoor secured 95th International Olympiad rank and made us feel proud.

5. National Talent Search Examination (2011-12)All people have fears, but the brave ones put down their fears and go forward, sometimes to death, but always to victory and we call them real heroes, the talented ones. The record breaking participation as well as selection in National Talent Search Examination (2011-12) is really a great achievement in the field of science. It is really an opportunity for our budding scientist to come up and expose their talents

Sports:-1. BLACK BELT KARATE:-

The greatest achievement of our school in the field of Karate that is the Black Belt winning. Miss Shreya Aggrawal who has been promoted to the rank Black Belt 1st Dan by the world Karate-Do Federation.

2. VOLLEY BALL CLUSTER TOURNAMENT:-The newly constituted School Volleyball team (Boys-U 19) participated in the CBSE Cluster Meet and made its position up to the quarter-final round among 36 renowned schools. Our team had a neck to neck fight with teams like Navrachna (Vadodara) and Divine Child (Mehsana) and the students gained lots of experience. The tour was exciting and helped in inculcating healthy competitive spirit among the students.

CELEBRATIONS:-1. EXHIBITION-cum-FUN & FAIR

The school organized Kalarav-2012, Exhibition-cum-Fun & Fair on Nov. 3, 2012. The highlight of the event was mass participation of the students in the preparation of exhibits, which was highly appreciated by the Indian Rayon Management and the parents. The exhibition comprised Science, Social Science, Languages, Mathematics, Computer, Art & Craft section and Pre-primary corner.The fair was also a stupendous success as it was a great crowd-puller. It brought out the organizational acumen of the teachers and the students alike.

2. ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET:-

The school organized its annual athletic meet – 2012-13 on Jan. 26, 2013. It was a mega event for the institution which was organized with a real team effort. The Indian Rayon Officials as well as the parents appreciated the programme and congratulated the teachers and the students. Various athletic events, games and dances were the attraction of the programme. Dr. Bir Kapoor, Unit Head Indian Rayon, inaugurated the basketball court. He also announced the Annual Athletic Meet Open by lighting the torch.

The event was an initiative in developing the healthy competitive feeling among the students and to provide a platform to the budding sports persons.

3. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION:-

The school celebrated Christmas festival on 24th Dec..’12 to mark the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ. The celebration painted entire ABPS family with one colour. The students presented different programmes like dance, drama, songs to convey the message of love, peace and harmony. The programme ended with the thought provoking words by Principal Madam.

INFRASTRUCTURAL GROWTH-

LANGUAGE LAB –Language lab has been established with sophisticated Audio-Visual paraphernalia.

BASKETBALL COURT – An attractive basketball court has been constructed with the view to build competitive teams in near future as also to develop physical strength & stamina.
