Key Objectives:
• Pushing more testing back into Simulator domain, where turn-around time is much shorter and UE Supplier can handle at their own development site
• Reducing the number of problems that end up going into the field

PSD4-1SG100005-00 10
What is Conformance Testing?
Mobile communications standards (e.g. GSM, W-CDMA) define the
behaviour of the phone and the network in every operational situation.
The aim of „Conformance Testing‟ is to make sure the phone behaves
according to the standard in every operational situation
Why is Conformance Testing important?
Because operators and infra-vendors rely on mobiles properly obeying
the standard, non-compliant phones cause problems if they get onto
networks – especially when new features and services are introduced
and the software in the base stations and network infrastructure is not
mature.
