The VERKAUF is a leader manufacturer of tap changers offering a complete array of products for oil insulated transformers. The simple construction offers simplicity and time saving when installing with reliability and reduced overall transformer size.
The tap changers we make are for 15kV, 24kV, 36kV and 72kV class and 160A to 600A each per deck.
The modular design allows the tap changer to be implemented according to customer’s transformer design. Tap changers can be single linear in a deck, double or triple, vertical in two or three rows, with several contact sets, typical assembling configurations.
Tap changers are supplied with direct manual operating mechanism or at ground operator’s level. Distance operation mechanism works by using shaft and gearing.
As value added, we offer our experienced team for customer support in the design or any part of the process to better meet customer’s needs.
How i t works
Off-load tap changers when applied to transformers are used to change connections amongst winding derivations, switching the number of spirals that correspond to working tension.
Tap changing must only be done with de-energized transformer.

All of our material is top quality in order to guarantee a highly reliable and safe product.
The isolation is neutral laminated foil paper impregnated with phenolic resin which fully comply with IEC 60893, DIN 7735 and NEMA LI 1 XX class rules.
Special copper and brass alloys are used for stationary and moving contacts assuring good mechanic resistance and excellent thermo dissipation on the contacts.
Extreme care was also taken on functional and appearance characteristics. Shafts are made of stainless steel. Wheels are in aluminum and appropriated PARKER shielding .Tropical climate working is guaranteed.

Our tap changers successfully completed all tests at the IPTB labs of Universidade Regional de Blumenau (Brasil) according to NBR 5356/93 rules “Power Transformer – specifications”, ABNT, RJ; ABNT 3.09.14.02-002/91, “De-energized Tap Changers”, ABNT, RJ;
IEC 60214-1/2003 “Tap Changers – Part 1 – Performance and test methods” IEC, CE.
The following tests have been performed:
- Heating tests
- Short-circuit tests.
- Industrial frequency and atmospheric impulse resistance tests.

Direct operation assembling will only require correct size holes and the welding boss to the transformer tank wall or lid.

Screw Threaded stationary contacts. Can also be assembled in vertical.
