Twelve micro lenses in an array Increases the optical path approximately five times more than standard MT interconnects, which transmit light across a 50μm fiber core
Recessed micro lenses create a non-contacting ferrule interface
Eliminates connector failure due to debris generated during mating or handling, ensuring reliable and repeatable optical performance. Able to withstand thousands of mate and de-mate cycles
Twelve-fiber, expanded-beam interface can be cleaned with a simple air blast
Enables the installer to spend less time cleaning and inspecting the optical interface priorto mating
MT ferrule footprint can be incorporated in any of the following MT compatible connectors: MPO/MTP*, Array, circular MT, 1-by-3 circular MT, HBMT™ or BMTP
Can be used in all MT compatible interfaces

Increase optical transmission reliability in high-performance applications such as medical and data communication equipment with Molex’s high-density 12-fiber MT ferrule-based VersaBeam™ MT Interconnects Molex introduces the industry’s first high-density, expanded-beam (lensed), MT ferrule-based interconnects, designed to drastically increase the number of mating cycles compared to standard MT ferrules and reduce optical loss resulting from dust contamination. Previously, expanded beam interfaces were only available as bulky single-fiber interfaces with limited density. The Molex expanded beam 12-fiber MT ferrule contains 12 parallel micro-lens interfaces, optimized for 50/125μm fiber applications. Expanded Beam Interconnects are ideally suited for controlled environments such as medical and data centers that require optically robust interfaces which can be mated thousands of times over the products life cycle.
Standard MT ferrule interfaces transmit signals across glass-fiber interfaces that require physical contact to achieve optimal optical performance, making them susceptible to degradation due to dust contamination. In contrast, the VersaBeam MT ferrule, with recessed micro lenses, prevents physical contact between mating interfaces. This controlled gap prevents debris from becoming imbedded during the mating or handling process, preventing possible failure, and provides reliable and repeatable optical performance. VersaBeam MT interconnects include high-density, front-panel interfaces such as MPO/MTP, Array, Circular MT, HBMT™ and BMTP connector systems.
