From version 2.0 we will update the manual whenever we release a new K3 feature sheet. You can download the latest version of this manual at any time from www.grouptechedge.com/manual/K3manual.zip
Please consider the environment before printing this manual. An electronic version has the benefit of being much easier to search and navigate than a paper version, and due to the continual development of our software this manual is updated on a regular basis.
This manual is provided with book marks corresponding to the table of contents. Open the side panel in your PDF viewer and use Bookmarks to quickly navigate the document. You can also use ‘Find’ feature in your PDF viewer to search for specific terms.
If you would like to receive feature sheets highlighting new developments in Sponsorship please email [email protected] to be added to the mailing list. We also welcome your comments or suggestions.
Thanks,
TechEdge Support team

1 Purpose of …
K3 is planning and extrapolation module based on the technology from Karma and K2.
The unique feature of K3 is its ability to work on multiple countries at the same time and get reach by individual countries and pan area.
In addition K3 allows you to create extrapolated countries based on existing countries data weighing the universe and ratings.
2 Setting up a Query
2.1 Country Selection
The area picker allows you to select multiple countries.
Extrapolated countries are marked with a blue dot instead of a flag to denominate they are extrapolated.
See extrapolation section for explanation on creating extrapolated countries
2.2 Channel picker
The channel picker is separated in two sections.
The regular channels picker and a section for extrapolated channels
You are able to search on channels names for all selected countries simultaneously
See extrapolation section for explanation on creating extrapolated countries
2.3 Daypart picker
Daypart picker is similar to AdvantEdge and K2.
All day parts which already have been created in AdvantEdge or K2 are available in K3.
Please note that the TV-day definition can be different from country to country.
Most countries TV-days goes from 02.00-25.59, however there are exceptions.
2.4 Spot duration
Select the spot duration of the spot. It is possible to select multiple spot durations and set number of spots or TVRs by spot duration
The spot index or rating factor is determined under the setup section, (which requires a password).
You can insert as many spot durations as you require and determine the spot rating factor
2.5 Delivery mode
This section determines whether you work on a spot or TVR goal. The goal is inserted by channel and daypart.
2.6 Reference period
Select the reference period which you wish to base your simulation on.
2.7 Target audience / secondary Target Audience / Universe:
Select the target which you which to base your simulation on.
Please note that the target group must be created for all selected countries.
A good tip is to create the target group in AdvantEdge by writing the mnemonic code for the target group. I.e. M15-34 etc. This will create the target automatically for all available countries.
All target groups which already have been created in AdvantEdge or K2 are available in K3.
If a secondary target audience is selected the key figures will be reported in both targets
Universe will adjust the numbers by the selected universe
3 Multiple scenarios
You can work with multiple scenarios where the TVR of spot goal is different by scenario. Click on the [Add] button to add additional scenario(s), or use the trash can icon to remove scenario(s).
The output will be displayed in individual sheets in Excel.
4 Load/Save
Each scenario can be saved and loaded again later
5 Output
The report is exported into Excel. The report displays the following key figures.
Universe, number of spots, 30” spots, impacts (‘000), Reach, avg freq (OTS), average impacts (‘000), GRP (TRP,TVR), Average GRP (TRP,TVR).
In addition there is a header displaying dates, spot duration, name of the plan, countries and universe
At the bottom the data source is displayed – if entered.
When working on multiple scenarios there is a sheet for each scenario.
6 Setup
Under setup it is possible to define certain aspects of the output report and create extrapolated countries and channels.
6.1 User account
There are two levels of users: Standard users and administrator.
Only administrator users have access to the setup section, which is password protected.
The administrator can give other users administration rights
6.2 Export settings
The export settings allows you to set what units to include in the report and how many decimals to include.
6.3 Data supplier and citation
This section allows you to type in the name of the data supplier or other comments.
The “citation” box allows you to type in a comment or a disclaimer on the report
6.4 Rate card
The rate card section is used to calculate 30” equivalent ratings.
For each spot duration you must type in the “rating - /rate card factor” for that particular spot duration.
6.5 Extrapolation
K3 allows you to create extrapolated countries based on existing countries data weighing the universe and ratings.
In the example below we use Argentinian data to create Uruguay as an extrapolated country.
By selecting the Argentina and factoring the universe for the population size (0,1) we create Uruguay
Make sure that you press enter after entering he factor in order to save it properly.
After creation the countries and channels are now available in the country and channel picker of K3.
In addition we create the extrapolated channels based on the native Argentinian channels and factoring the ratings levels.
