Especialização no domínio do Direito de um mundo transnacional e globalizado em múltiplas esferas e de múltiplas formas e, por isso, menos centrado nas clássicas questões de Direito Internacional Público do que nas questões ligadas à internacionalização dos negócios e das relações jurídicas do trato privado/público transnacional, por um lado; e por outro, nas questões relativas ao (des)respeito dos direitos humanos, incluindo o Direito Humanitário ou os novos desenvolvimentos do Direito Internacional Penal.

A integração europeia faz parte desta nova geopolítica e por isso aqui se analisam vários domínios do Direito da União Europeia como a liberdade de circulação de pessoas ou o sistema jurisdicional europeu.

Operating within an increasingly transnational and globalized world requires legal knowledge that today is less focused on classical issues of public international law, and more on areas that focus on issues related to the internationalization of businesses and private/public transnational legal relationships, as well as human rights, humanitarian law and new developments in international criminal law.

European integration is part of the new geopolitical environment. This explain the focus of the master’s on several areas of European Union law such as the freedom of movement of people and the European jurisdictional system.

OBJETIVOS DO CURSOCOURSE OBJECTIVES

Desenvolvimento dos conhecimentos adquiridos na licenciatura em estudos jurídicos nas áreas do direito internacional e do direito da União Europeia, com aprofundamento de diversos aspetos especiais de ambos, incluindo a sua interação multinível, designadamente no domínio da tutela dos direitos humanos.

Desenvolvimento da capacidade de investigação científica.

Preparação para a vida profissional.

Building on the knowledge acquired in the bachelor degree in the fields of international law, this master in Law develops topics of both areas of law, including their multi-layered interaction, namely in the area of the protection of human rights.Development of skills in scientific research.Preparation of students for their professional life.

ORGANIZAÇÃOSTRUCTURE

O curso tem a duração de quatro semestres, sendo os dois primeiros semestres letivos e o terceiro e o quarto destinado à elaboração da Dissertação, do Trabalho de Projeto ou do Relatório de Estágio. Os alunos devem completar um total de 60 ECTS nos dois semestres letivos, sendo 32 correspondentes a disciplinas de opção restrita e 20 de opção livre. Os restantes 8 ECTS referem-se à disciplina obrigatória de Metodologia da Investigação Jurídica.

The course has a duration of four semesters. The first two semesters include classes. The third and fourth semesters are devoted to supporting students with their dissertation, project or internship. Students must complete a total of 60 ECTS in the first two semesters, 32 of which correspond to core courses (restricted option disciplines) and 20 of which are elective (free option disciplines). The remaining 8 ECTS refer to a mandatory Methodology of Legal Research course.
