CALL FOR PAPERS
he Centre of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian & Latin American Studies is organizing
the VI International Conference on Hispanism to share scholastic knowledge and
research significance related to study of languages, literature and its interdependence
on individual and the society. In the past, the Centre has successfully organized
international conferences on Hispanic and Luso-Brasilian themes, providing a singular
opportunity for Indian Hispanists to deliberate upon and update contemporary trends in
these fields. Continuing with this earlier tradition, Centre is again organizing the
International Conference to share a common platform for brainstorming and knowledge
sharing in order to bring to the fore each one of our research and academic areas.
Papers from scholars, researchers, faculty members and critics across the globe are
welcome.

THEMES OF PAPER The following areas of interest, selected as themes of papers for the conference, to encompass the varied fields of research trends in the field of Hispanism.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION Papers are invited from the above themes. All abstracts not exceeding 300 words should reach on or before 5th December 2017 to the Director Conference by e-mail. Submissions should also include your name, institutional affiliation, e-mail address and a short biographic note in 3-5 sentences. Acceptance will be communicated between 15th December 2017 to 5th January 2018. Authors will have to submit full manuscript (with original figures and images, if any) to the Director Conference latest by 30th January 2018. Necessary instructions regarding preparation of the manuscript(s) will be sent along with the acceptance letter and author(s) are requested to submit the final text in electronic form through email in .doc format.

VENUE AND LOGISTICS
The venue of the conference is Convention Centre within the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus at the National capital of
India in New Delhi is a historical city well connected throughout the world. The Aravalli hill range, where the 1000 -acre campus is located is now lush green. Parts of it host dense forests, sustaining a birdwatcher's paradise and some forms of wild life.
The JNU campus is a microcosm of the Indian nation, drawing students from every nook and corner of the country and from every group and stratum of society. Overseas students form some 10 percent of the annual intake. Students' hostels and blocks of faculty residences are interspersed with one another, underlining the vision of a large Indian family.
Convention Centre of JNU is state-of-art fully equipped with all the modern necessary facilities to organize this kind of conference. Auditoriums, Committee Hall and Lecture Halls are centrally air-conditioned. Projector facility and audio-visual equipment and stage lighting available. Facility for live web cast of the event. Convention Centre has high speed broadband internet and Wi-Fi facility. Separate cafeteria and lounge for dinning and refreshment. Ample parking space.

Reasonably good guest house available with limited rooms for this conference at
nominal rates with dining facility for the guests. The Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Himayun Tombs are added interest for the participants besides normal tourist attraction places.
ACCOMODATION
Guest Houses The University has three Guest Houses, Aravali Guest House and Aravali International Guest House situated in the campus adjacent to the academic complex. The other one is Gomti Guest House which is located behind Sapru House, in the heart of Delhi, adjacent to the National Museum, Barakhamba Road. The rooms in the guest houses are limited
hence advance booking is needed. This will be confirmed only on prior payment made in advance, before 15th December 2017. The payment will be through bank transfer only. Accommodations will be booked on first-come, first-served basis.

ABOUT THE CENTRE
The Centre of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Latin American Studies (CSPILAS) is a pioneering institution in the country. Founding of the Centre gave a tremendous boost to the teaching, research and development of the Spanish language in India. This is the first Centre in the country which has introduced Graduate, Masters and doctoral degree programme of studies in Spanish and one of the leading Centre in Spanish and Latin American Studies in South East Asia. Faculty
members of the Centre has been entrusted the responsibility to develop and launch the first of its kind online Spanish MOOC Post-Graduate courses under the National Mission on Education through ICT of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to cater the needs and aspirations of Indian students. Faculty members of the Centre are recipient of several prestigious fellowships and International awards.
Centre has been integrated as a participating institution in a European Commission’s (EU) Erasmus Mundus Consortium for a Master’s Programme in the Learning of Spanish in Multicultural and International Contexts. From the last thirty years, Centre annually publishes a research journal “Hispanic Horizon” which has high academic visibility in India and abroad.
Today, a majority of Hispanic faculty in India are alumni of this Centre. Some of our alumni are currently in the service of the government of India, while many others are using their Spanish language skills in multinational companies.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was established in the year 1969 by an act of Parliament for higher academic research and development, is a premier central university, located at New Delhi the national capital of India. The mode of instruction is to encourage students to explore their own creativity instead of reproducing received knowledge was a new experiment on the Indian academic landscape. The very objective in the founding of the University was national
integration, social justice, democratic way of life, international understanding and scientific approach to the problems of society. The JNU campus is a microcosm of the Indian nation, drawing students from every nook and corner of the country and from every group and stratum of society.
In its more than four and half decades of history, JNU has honoured several statesman and scholars of exceptional stature by conferring “honoris causa” on them. Currently many JNU alumni are Members of Parliament in India and the Former Vice-Chancellor of JNU Late Mr. K. R. Narayanan was the President of India (1997-2002) and this is a matter of pride and prestige for the JNU community.
Once again JNU has been declared the best university in the country by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Government of India which has given the university a grade of A++ (3.77 out of 4), the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country. In addition,
JNU has also received an award as the best University in India by the President of India in 2017.
