Introduction VIA High Definition Audio Vdeck – Black Skin Control Panel provides a user-friendly interface for you to configure the audio system empowered by VIA High Definition Audio Codec.

The Black Skin Control Panel supports Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Getting Started The Black Skin Control Panel provides two modes:

1. Simple Mode

2. Expert Mode When you open the Black Skin Control Panel, by default it is in Simple Mode.

Jack Detection & ConfigurationClick the jack icon to open the jack configuration dialog box.

Advanced Options ControlClick it to open Advanced

Options dialog box

Mode SwitchClick the button to switch between

Simple Mode and Expert Mode.

Information ButtonClick it to view

Information dialog box.

Volume ControlDrag the slider bars to adjust the

master volume of the devices.

Mute ButtonClick the button to mute the device.

Default Device Click the button to select and set the default playback or capture device.

Exert Mode The Expert Mode provides function pages for advanced settings depending upon the devices selected.

Speaker Options Use the dialog box to set the advanced options for the speakers, and click “OK”.

Default Format Page Use this page to control the sample rates and bit depth of the playback or recording devices.

Click the respective buttons to set the sample rate or bit depth.

The selected buttons will be highlighted.

Bass Management Page Use this page to configure the features of speaker devices.

Enable Bass Management Bass Boost AdjustmentCutoff Frequency Adjustment

Click it to enable bass management. Move the slider bar to set bass boost value.

Move the slider to set suitable cutoff frequency.

Environment Modeling Page Use this page to set the sound-effect environment for the speakers and headphones.

Jack Information and Configuration Jack Detection and Configuration area shows the information of jack connections. Distinguish the jacks by different colors. You can find the colors that match the jacks at the rear or front part of the computer.

When a device is connected, the respective jack icon is highlighted; otherwise the jack is grey, and the function is disabled.

As an example, the following figure shows a device being plugged into the “Front Mic” jack.

Advanced Options This dialog box provides the advanced options.

Language SelectProvide multi-language support.

Select the language from the drop-down box.

Redirected HeadphoneCopy the speaker’s front

channel stream to the headphone.

Independent HeadphoneClick it to change the headphone to an independent device from the speaker.

The different audio streams are from the speaker and headphone separately.

Check the button to mute the speaker if it is connected to a headphone.

This function is only available when the “Redirected Headphone” is checked.

Enable Front Panel Jack DetectionCheck the button to enable the front

panel jack detection.

Note: To set the speaker and headphone as separate and individual audio streams under Windows 7, use different players and set the speaker or headphone as the output device in the respective players.

Product Information Click the “Information” button and the information dialog box will appear.

Miscellaneous Control When the VDeck is executed, the VDeck icon will display in the system tray.

Right-click the VDeck icon in the system tray, and a small menu will appear.

Click the “VIA HD Audio Deck” to open the VDeck Black Skin Control Panel, or click “Exit” to close VDeck.
