Students in all grade levels are below level in problems solving and using referencematerials based on pretest and observations made by the WES Media Specialist. Students

are not familiar with The Big6 or Super3 steps in finding solutions to problems using

information sources. They understand that a dictionary is used to find the meaning of

Students will enjoy learning from other children and see that the process they are learningwill help them in all areas of learning. As a summary of the lesson, students will view a

musical rap of the Super3 performed by fifth graders.

They will see the process used and feel confident that they can follow this process as

well and see how they can find the answers to the questions they have using a variety of

informational resources.

This will serve as an introduction to the Super3 process. As students learn the process

and then complete a project using the Super3. They will be able to make their detective

hat and magnifying glass. They will also earn a certificate and badge once they havemastered the process.

Objectives:

After reviewing the Super3 process, 2nd

grade students will be given a problem and willcreate a reasonable plan with the 3 steps to find the answer to a question using at least 3

informational resources.

After viewing the instructional video of the Super3, 2nd grade students will be able to list

the 3 steps in the process with 100% accuracy for mastery.
