Presenter
Presentation Notes
[Greetings and introduction] It gives me great pleasure to share with you a broad overview of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiatives at NUS. (Photo: Nanolumi is an advanced materials company, working on quantum dots nanomaterials synthesis for optical and electronic applications. The company recently launched its flagship product, Chameleon™ Film, which is the industry’s simplest, safest, most scalable way to achieve the colour goals of Rec. 2020 with perovskite quantum dots, delivering vivid colors with excellent brightness at a fraction of the cost of competing technologies. The company also recently raised seed funding of $1.35 million (US$1 million). They are an NUS spin-off using patented NUS technology; their co-founder Jax Lee is an NOC SV alumnus; they are incubated at The Hangar; and they are a graduate of the LLP programme.)

Presentation Notes
NUS has a vibrant I&E community, comprising numerous student groups, research and innovation centres, incubation facilities and more. At the heart of this community is NUS Enterprise, which serves as the entrepreneurial arm of the university, and the NUS Industry Liaison Office (ILO), which helps to translate NUS research and technologies into economic and societal impact. Dedicated to developing a comprehensive I&E ecosystem for NUS’ students, staff, and alumni, we not only help to produce a pipeline of technologies and entrepreneurial talent, but to support growing ventures from ideation through exit.

• Part-time entrepreneurship classes

Presenter
Presentation Notes
For students, we have set up 11 NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) in some of the world’s most dynamic and entrepreneurial cities. Students who apply and are selected spend up to one year in these hubs, working as full-time interns in high-tech start-ups or innovative companies. These companies are carefully chosen to provide students opportunities to learn directly from the founders and entrepreneurs in these start-ups. At the same time, the students: take entrepreneurship-related or discipline-based courses at NUS partner universities at these overseas locations immerse themselves in the local entrepreneurial environments through participation in hackathons and other events.
