BOARD OF MANAGERS REPORT

The Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter reports the following activities and actions since the last BOM Meeting.

ADMINISTRATIVE

We are saddened to report the passing of Compatriot Willard Leon Brown, Jr. who died on 28-Aug-2017. Several compatriots participated in the Washington Monument ceremony at Boonsboro, MD. Generous

donations were received from the city and the Christian Ardinger chapter for the chapter’s participation. Most of the chapter’s committees have been dormant over the summer with activity scheduled to pick up

right after the first of the year. President Pat Barron continues to work with the Patriots’ Ball committee. 1st VP Gene Moyer, 2nd VP Ron Harbaugh and Past President Don Deering attended Fall Leadership in

Louisville.

Eagle Scout CommitteeChair: Rich Fulmer

Chairman Ryan Bass resigned as chairman on 13-Aug-2017. At the Executive Committee meeting held on 21-Sep-2017, Compatriot Rich Fulmer agreed to chair this committee.

On 19-Aug-2017 at a Court of Honor ceremony, Compatriot George Delaplaine, Jr. presented the Eagle Scout certificate to Ryan Fulmer. Ryan’s Eagle Scout project involved designing and constructing U.S. Flag disposal boxes which were placed around the town of Walkersville, MD. The scouts collect the old or damaged flags for proper disposal.

The Fife & Drum Corps continues to be very active with performances around the Washington Metropolitan area. The unit practices every Monday evening (1.5 hrs.) in Frederick, MD.

Compatriot Richard Fulmer has been approved by NSSAR and he will be inducted at the chapter meeting on 19-Oct-2017.

The Membership Committee has a possible ten (10) prospective members in the pipeline at various stages of the application process. I have contacted several applicants who have started the online application, no response from a few as of today. Several inquiries have come from State and I have contacted these individuals. These are not posted on my list until there is a response. (Most of the applications waiting for action are lacking documentation for the first three generations.) The Edward Spannaus application was received by National on 22-Sep-2017. It

was stated at the Fall Leadership that the length of time for approval of new applications was going to be reduced to 4-5 weeks, and also an improved turn around for supplementals.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2017 semi-annual meeting of the Sergeant Lawrence Everhart chapter will be held on 19-Oct-2017 at Dutch’s Daughter restaurant in Frederick, MD. The guest speaker will be Amie Hoeber.

Chapter Treasurer Doug Favorite will host a benefit at his home on Saturday, 09-Dec-2017. Compatriot Favorite’s home and property are decorated with dozens of themed Christmas trees. A buffet dinner is provided and all proceeds go to the chapter.
