Add Animations to Pictures, Shapes and Text

In this class exercise, you will create a PowerPoint presentation about the Story of Your Life.

HOW TO ADD ANIMATIONS

1. Click the ANIMATIONS TAB.2. Go to the ANIMATIONS GROUP and click on CUSTOM ANIMATIONS.

Notice the Custom Animations window open on the right side of your screen.

HOW TO ADD ANIMATIONS TO PICTURES OR SHAPES

1. DOUBLE CLICK on a picture or shape located on your slide. Notice the sizing handles that appear around your picture or object.Notice the new PICTURES TOOL/FORMAT TAB appear on your ribbon located at the top of your screen. Also, the ADD EFFECTS command now becomes active in the right window. See the circled areas on the picture below.

2. Click the arrow to the right of ADD EFFECTSNotice the new menu that appears. Entrance, Emphasis, Exit and Motion Paths

3. Click on the effect titled Emphasis. Notice the new menu of effects that appear.

Click on GROW/SHRINK. NOTICE the new information that appears in your right window and NOTICE that each special effect is NUMBERED. The numbers indicate the order of when that effect will play in the slide.

4. Under START, click the arrow and choose ON CLICK.5. Under SPEED, click the arrow and choose SLOW or VERY SLOW. These slower

speeds will really show off your custom animation effect.

HOW TO ADD ANIMATIONS TO TEXT

1. Click anywhere INSIDE the TEXT BOX. NOTICE the sizing handles that appear around your text box.

2. Click the down arrow to the right of ADD EFFECT.3. Choose the ENTRANCE effect and choose DIAMOND. NOTICE the effect appears

in the text box so you can see how it will work.4. To finish adding the effect go to START and choose ON CLICK. Then go to SPEED

and choose SLOW or VERY SLOW.5. Continue adding effects to the remaining pictures, shapes and text in all your

slides.
