East Central Regional Science Fair-Complete Results
Four schools were represented at this year’s East Central Regional Science and Engineering Fair held at the Lincoln County Fair Building Wednesday, March 2. East Central filled ten junior division and five senior division allotments for the State Science and Engineering Fair to be held at CSU, Fort Collins early April. All four schools will be represented at the state event, including Genoa-Hugo, Karval, Limon, and Stratton. Pictured are the state qualifiers from Genoa-Hugo. Freshman Alia Kraxberger will represent the high school with her project investigating aerodynamics. From Limon, Erin Albers, Cassidy Thompson, Kit Bellefeuille, James Berndt, Kyle Berndt, and Joe Weisensee successfully took the other four senior division allotments for State Science Fair. Genoa-Hugo Middle School filled seven of the ten available junior division allotments for East Central Region. State qualifiers, also pictured, from Hugo include Tessa Smith, Mindi Carr, Michaela Ravenkamp, Tyler Higgins, Tarra Miller, Levi Miller, Colby Simmons, and Dixi Lockhart. Lyndee Yoder from Karval, Zane Smith and Alex Carr from Limon, and Braden Wedel from Stratton rounded out the other three junior division allotments for State. Much appreciation goes to the volunteer judges who made this fair one of the biggest events in over five years. Special appreciation to Denver Air Life for their surprise visit to the Regional Fair with their special mode of transportation; they also sent representatives to the local school fair held in Hugo the previous week. There were a total of 25 junior division projects and 11 senior division projects representing their respective schools very well.
