The purpose of this lesson cycle is for students to understand the similarities and differences of the main monotheistic religions.

Day 1Learning Target – I will determine the meaning of key vocabulary phrases.
Warm Up – See Task 1 visuals and map of military bases. Have students share out what they notice. Ask students why the government doesn’t have a base in Antarctica or in the middle of the ocean? You put bases around things you want to protect or next to places where you are afraid that there is danger.Religion Power Point (W) Include visuals from above for transition to new region, -give each student a notecard, display the 3-1 in the back of the room.

Warm Up - Catholics and Protestants are both Christian if they… ( religion visuals)-Pass out papers/readings, computers at the beginning of class to ensure smooth transition.

Show with different colored notecards. Use visuals on boards to illustrate timelines, discuss prophets and links. Possibly use dice to show expansion. Three to start, one after. Religions replace each other.
-Students should use the readings, vocabulary, or discussion to fill out the religion organizer. Use text evidence, paraphrase, need to explain where they got their information from.
