You can monitoryour heart rate levels and keep your exerciseintensity in line with your training goals, whichcontributes to more efficient training, improved cardiopulmonary function, andbetter health.

● Specifying a Target Heart Rate ZoneSpecify a target heart rate zone that matchesyour training objectives.Your heart rate changes in accordance withyour exercise intensity. The five heart ratezones of your watch, which are numberedfrom 1 to 5, are determined based onpercentages of your maximum heart rate. Thegreater the zone number, the higher theexercise intensity level.● Zone 1 (50 to 60%*): Warm up

Used for warm up at the beginning of anexercise session and cool down at the end.

● Zone 2 (61 to 70%*): Fat burningPromotes metabolism and burns fat. Betterthan more rigorous training for increasingphysical ability.Breathing is comfortable, which is good forprolonged training. Start of perspiration.

● Zone 3 (71 to 80%*): Aerobic trainingImproves basic endurance and athleticperformance.Breathing is easy, light perspiration.

● Zone 4 (81 to 90%*): Anaerobic trainingImproves endurance exercise performanceand basal metabolism.Breathing is heavier, increasedperspiration.

● Zone 5 (91 to 100%*): Maximum effortImproves athletic performance andinstantaneous power. The physical load is high, so this zoneshould be maintained for short periods.Recommended for occasional training or forathletes who train daily.

Heart Rate MeasurementPrecautions

Heart Rate Measurement Functions● The back cover of the watch has a built-in

sensor that detects your pulse. This is usedto calculate and display an approximateheart rate value. The factors below cancause error in the displayed heart ratevalue.ーHow the watch is affixed to the wristー Individual wrist characteristics and

conditionーTraining type and/or intensityーSweat, dirt, and/or other foreign matter

around the sensorAll of this means that heart rate valuesdisplayed by the watch are approximate, andno guarantees are made concerning theiraccuracy.● The heart rate measurement function of this

watch is intended for recreational purposes, and should not be used in any way formedical purposes.

● Heart rate measurement is automaticallydisabled when the battery level indicatorshows or lower.

Wrist Heart Rate Measurement Sleep(Power Saving)Regardless of whether or not you are wearingthe watch, the heart rate measurement sensorwill automatically stop measurement andenter a sleep state if you do not move for acertain amount of time.If heart rate measurement does not start whenyou strap the watch onto your wrist, it will startwhen you move your wrist.

Precautions When Putting onthe Watch

Correctly wearing the watch on your wrist isessential obtain more accurate heart ratemeasurements. Position the watch on yourwrist as described below.

1. With the watch fastened loosely on yourwrist, place at least one finger to the rightof the pressure sensor on the right side ofthe watch* (Figure A).* If you wear the watch on your right wrist, place your finger(s) to the left of the (C)button (left side of the watch).

Effects of TemperatureWhen taking altitude readings, take the stepsbelow to keep the watch at as stable atemperature as possible. Changes intemperature can affect altitude readings.● Take readings with the watch on your wrist.● Take readings in an area where

temperature is stable.Altitude Readings● Do not use this watch while skydiving, hang

gliding, paragliding, gyrocopter flying, gliderflying, or engaged in other activities wherealtitude changes suddenly.

● Altitude readings produced by this watchare not intended for special-purpose orindustrial level use.

● In an aircraft, the watch measures the in-cabin pressurized air pressure, so readingswill not match altitudes announced by thecrew.

Altitude Readings (Relative Altitude)This watch uses International StandardAtmosphere (ISA) relative altitude datadefined by the International Civil AviationOrganization (ICAO). Barometric pressuregenerally becomes lower as altitudeincreases.Correct measurement may not be possibleunder the conditions below.● During unstable atmospheric conditions● During sudden temperature changes● After the watch has been subjected to

strong impactMeasured Altitude Value AdjustmentUsing GPS Signal DataIf you perform a GPS signal receive operationbefore you start running, the receivedcorrection information will be used forautomatic correction of altitude measurementvalues. Note, however, that this also mayresult in some difference between themeasured value and the actual altitude. Also note that the measured altitude valueadjustment operation using GPS signal datamay take a few minutes. The adjustmentoperation may take even longer, dependingon your current environment. Regular manualadjustment of the measured altitude valueusing locally available information isrecommended. The watch will not use GPSsignal data to adjust measured altitude valuesfor one hour after you adjust the measuredaltitude value manually.
