In 1762, the first settlers came to Abborrträsk. At this time, signs of a Sami camp but no signs of a permanent Sami settlement could be found. The Sami name Abborrträsks is Gulliesjávrrie and means moor. Nowadays, 150 people live here. We also have some small businesses.

There are many things to buy at Affär’n: food, coffee, arts and crafts, games, gasoline, fishing gear and licenses. Contact us or have a look on our information board.

There is an open air pool in the middle of the village. It offers heated pools, mini golf, trampolines, and boule. There is a barbecue place and toilets. The pool is free of charge. At the gate you will find a money box, where you can make a voluntarily contribution to the community.

The People’s house (Folket hus)The People's House has a gym and a sauna. You can rent premises for parties, class reunions, dances and other gatherings. Call 0960-500 02 or ask the staff at Affär'n.

Go-Kart and CaféIn Orrkammen (5 km north of Abborrträsk) is a Go-Kart track with a cafe that serves delicious waffles.

Dogdays (21‐22 Juli)It is all about dogs. There are numerous activities for two days: dog shows, competitions, lectures, and retrieving exercises. All matters relating to our four-legged friends can be exchanged here.

Nasaleden is an ancient trail that starts in Nasafjäll (North) and ends 400 kilometers away in Skellefteå (South). The Sami used this way for their silver transport in the 17th century. Even today, you can witness their trails and listen to mystical stories about their arduous paths. You can book a guided tour. Call 0960 126 58. You can purchase a ‐map at Affär’n.

Berry PickingYou can collect blueberries, cloudberries, cranberries, and golden chanterelles in summer and autumn.

Abborrträsk offers 4 furnished apartments for rent. They all have 2 bed rooms. One has an additional sofa bed. All apartments have a kitchen, TV, a shower, and a toilet.

Tours and Attractions

There is a lake in the middle of the forest that invites you to swim. It has a sandy beach with small docks, changing rooms, and a toilet. Leave Glommersträsk and turn right. After 10 kilometers you will reach a small walking path that leads you right through the lake (map # 1).

Guide Bird excursions.Stefan Holmberg is one of Lappland’s best known and knowledgeable birdwatchers. He lives in our village. Call him for tips or for a bird watching trip. Tel 0960 500 85‐1ödisområde

Tjärnhedenområdet: 365 lakes within one square mile. The area starts in Abborrträsk towards Glommersträsk.

10.000 years ago, glacial ice melted away and left this unique landscape. The trees are up to 400 years old. You can find different kinds of orchids. It is a nice place for strollers (map #3).

Observation tower in TjärnhedenIn Guttnetsberget near Tjärnhedenområdet is an observation tower that offers you a great view of the whole area. It is worth a visit (map #4).

Bird TowerIn Grundträsk (8 kilometer south of Abborrträsk) is a bird tower where you can watch many kinds of birds, closely. Additionally, it offers you a place to barbecue.
