9th Annual Village HallPhotography Competition

The Arts Commission invites submissions of photographs, which will be reviewed, with one photograph chosen as the winner. The theme of the contest is “Celebrating our Arlington Heights Community”. The winning image should celebrate an Arlington Heights community event.

Entries will be judged in three areas, technical, creativity, and interest.

The winning photograph will be enlarged and framed with The winning photograph will be enlarged and framed with costs to be paid by the Arts Commission, and will be displayed for approximately one year and possibly longer in Village Hall.

The competition is open to all photographers. Each photographer may submit up to three entries.

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The Arts Commission invites submissions of photographs, which will be reviewed, with one photograph chosen as the winner. The theme of the contest is “Celebrating our Arlington Heights Community”. The winning image should celebrate an Arlington Heights community event such as, but not limited to the Frontier Days Festival, 4th of July Parade, The Mane Event, Tree Lighting Ceremony or Santa Run. The winning image should be recognizable as a scene in Arlington Heights. Entries will be judged in three areas, technical, creativity, and interest. The winning photograph will be enlarged and framed, with costs to be paid by the Arts Commission, and will be displayed for approximately one year and possibly longer in the Village Hall. The competition is open to all photographers. Each photographer may submit up to three entries. This form must be completed for each photograph entered and submitted to the Village of Arlington Heights, Arts Commission Liaison, Derek Mach, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL, 60005. Applicants must submit an application for each image submitted. HOW TO SUBMIT: Submissions to the contest will be in JPG or TIF format and the photographer should submit the full size image that is capable of being enlarged to approximately 18 X 24 inches. A maximum of three images per photographer can be mailed or delivered to:

COMPETITION RULES Upon submission of your image to the competition you will retain copyrights to your image. Entry must be the original work of the participant and the participant must be the owner of the copyright of the entry. By submitting for the competition you confirm that:

1) You are the author and that it is your original work 2) You are the owner of the copyright of the submittal 3) You have the permission of those pictured in the image

This competition is open to residents and non residents.

No more than three entries will be accepted per person and the entries will not be returned.

Deadline for receiving the entries is 5 pm on January 25, 2019. Results will be announced in April 2019.

By submitting your photograph you agree that the Village of Arlington Heights may, enlarge the winning image to approximately 18”x24” for display purposes in Village Hall. The image will be printed, matted and framed. The photographer gives the village rights to the photograph for the purpose of display at the Village’s discretion at no cost to village and in promotional materials for future Village photography competitions. Submission of an entry signifies acceptance by the participant of all the rules, terms and conditions of this competition.
