Durability is always a primary consideration when choosing school furniture. Key fea-tures and benefits include: precision-welded tubular steel frames for lasting strength; polypropylene, polyethylene or melamine hard plastic seating components for long-term performance; and quality work sur-faces with either a high-pressure laminate finish, or melamine hard plastic construc-tion that resist scratching and warping.

Along with durability, most educators would agree that contemporary school fur-niture should be ergonomically supportive and comfortable. Adaptability is another key class-room furniture characteristic. For some schools, its essential to have chairs and desks that accommodate diverse teaching styles and curriculum offerings. Chairs that can be quickly stacked

for easier classroom cleaning and readily moved from room to room as needed are exceptionally adaptable.

Because they effectively resist everyday scratches, Vircos FRW hard plastic desk tops are great for high-intensity classroom use. The FRW manufacturing process results in a smooth, colorfast surface from which most liquids can be readily wiped away before drying. Even permanent marker can be removed with a simple eraser and a little elbow grease!

To make FRW hard plastic seats and backs, Virco uses a proprietary blend of recycled wood flour and fines, resin, pigments and other ingredi-ents; when making FRW desk tops, melamine top sheets add pattern and color. After being combined under heat and pressure, these ingredients are transformed into beautifully durable FRW hard plastic components. Seats and backs are offered in nine standard FRW colors; work surfaces can be ordered in seven stan-dard natural patterns, including the desk top colors shown above. Grades: 5 through Adult Learning

Many school administrators prefer a 4-leg frame configura-tion for their study-top combo units. Unlike 4-leg chair desks with smaller footprints and work surfaces, 4-leg study-top com-bos are fitted with larger work surfaces two of which provide extended support for the right arm and hold more classroom materials. They can also be equipped with bookracks and backpack hangers.

Why Choose Backpack Hangers?Millions of backpacks accompany students to school whenever classes are in session. Without an effective classroom storage solution, backpacks are often found lying in aisles between desks, leaning against walls, or awkwardly slung over the backs of chairs.

The true point of rest, whether in philosophy or furniture design, is so obvious once discovered as to eliminate the need for argument or explanation. Classroom ChairsOver the years, Vircos 9000 Classic Series chairs have become an integral part of our educational landscape. These popular chairs are fixtures in thousands of classrooms across the nation, and around the world. Theyre available in 12 attractive colors and five seat heights to coordinate with your learning envi-ronment. A padded 18 version (model 9018P) is also available.

9600 Series chairs feature a sled-based design thats ideal for carpeted surfaces only. Like our 9000 Series chairs, they stack efficiently for easy storage.

The Classic Series includes four mobile chairs. Model 9050 and padded model 9050P feature a traditional 4-leg design, while padded model 9260PGC comes with a five-point base. As an added convenience, our model 9260PGC has a pneumatic mechanism for instant, ultra-easy adjustments, as does our model 9260GCLS lab stool.

Fortified Recycled Wood items start with Vircos proprietary ingredient mix, which always includes post-industrial recycled-content materials. Innovative mold designs and advanced process controls transform these ingredients into the supportive, ergonomically contoured hard plastic components pictured in this catalog.

Furniture made with Fortified Recycled Wood is highly sustainable due to its long service life. All Telos models have a heavy-gauge frame with a tubular steel backrest and locking front-U for full-perimeter seat support. Sturdy polypropylene spacers help to align the seat and frame and distribute stresses for extended product life.
