IFUMC Family, I have spent the last month on sabbatical and now feel refreshed, revitalized, and ready to return to life and ministry here at IFUMC. Again, thank you for all those precious days of Sabbath rest. They were truly and time of renewal and I was able to spend much time resting, reflecting, writing, and praying. I would like to thank Rev. Dr. Lois Wolfe for serving as Presiding Pastor during the month of May and for IFUMC’s amazing staff and lay leaders who kept things running smoothly in my absence. The church is the people and IFUMC has some wonderful people! As always, I am honored and humbled to serve as IFUMC’s pastor. Sabbath, taking a break from daily demands, is Biblical (read the Creation story in Genesis) and important for everyone to incorporate into their schedules in order to attain physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. Many of us have very busy schedules. However, as we approach the summer months, I encourage each of you to incorporate Sabbath rest into your weekly life. IFUMC has an exciting summer planned. There will be many opportunities for service, fellowship, and discipleship. Please refer to your newsletter and bulletin and take advantage of all IFUMC’s ministry opportunities. IFUMC is also beginning the process of partnering with the Mission Society and our friend, Max Wilkins, to develop a strategic plan for missions and evangelism in our community and beyond. In the coming months, you will see more information regarding planning sessions and implementation tools. The Mission Society and the North Central District will be offering this partnership, which includes mentoring and coaching, free of charge. If we take this program seriously, it has the potential to rekindle the fire of missions and evangelism in our church and community. This will impact and transform people in the name of Jesus Christ for generations to come. The Building Team has been meeting and seeking architectural plans and estimates from several different contractors and engineers. The building process is moving along and much progress is being made. I look forward to leading my IFUMC family into this next stage in our life and ministry together. We have extremely capable, gifted, faithful, and committed lay leaders at IFUMC. I am certain God is using the people of IFUMC in a powerful way in order to truly make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and bring about positive change in the Inverness community and in Citrus County. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us as we travel this journey of faith and discernment together. I ask you to continue to trust in God and God’s promises for IFUMC and to pray for those serving on the Leadership, Trustees, Finance, and Building Teams as they prayerfully explore and discern the best building option for a future IFUMC campus. I’ll see you in worship at Pleasant Grove Elementary School on Sundays at 9 AM or 10:30 AM or in one of IFUMC’s many Bible studies, life groups, or mission/service opportunities! I look forward to a wonderful (and lightning free!) summer together. Blessings! IFUMC VISITATION MINISTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP

We need someone (OR A COUPLE) to visit congregation members during the 2nd week of each month. Usually there are only 3 - 4 people to visit, and no set time limit involved. Please consider showing God’s love and compassion, it means so much to our congregation.

If interested, or have any questions, please contact Pat Ditzler at 352-897-4755. Thank you.

SERMON CD’S

Rob Stephen, our Sound Technician, can now make CD’s of a current sermon. If, at any time, you are interested in getting a sermon CD, please see Rob or contact him @ 364-3399.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN PROJECT FOR THE HAPPY KIDS INTERNATIONAL HAITI MISSION

On the second Sunday of the months of May - August, the U.M.W. Circles will have a table in the hallway with a money jar for cash donations to send with Pastor Sarah and those going on the Haiti mission trip. This money will be used to buy rice and beans in Haiti instead of buying them here and having to ship them. This will avoid shipping charges and will also help their economy. The U.M.W. appreciates your caring generosity.

The Sunshine Circle will also be making little girl dresses to send with them.

JUNE SERMON SERIES

Prayer. It’s one of the most basic and yet most mystifying components of faith. For some, it happens as naturally as breathing. For others, it hardly ever happens because it seems so unnatural. At some point, anyone who spends time

praying at all finds themselves facing doubts and questions. Join us in June for a series that explores some of the most often-asked questions. June 5th Psalm 107: 1-9; 33-38a Does It Really Make a Difference? June 12th

PRAYER TIME

At the recent GO Conference, it was suggested that church members all pray at the same time each day. After some discussion, a group of people decided that, at 11:40 a.m. each day, we will do this. The church address number is 1140 so we have set our phone alarms and will all pray for Pastor Sarah, church unity, God's vision for the future, etc. Some people cannot stop at work so they participate with a breath prayer for example, "I love you God, bless our church." Others have more time so, obviously, pray longer. There is no wrong way to do this except to not do it at all. Please join this group and, by the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit, "GROW WITH US."

WELCOME OUR NEW DISTRICT LAY LEADER!

Patricia (Trish) Thomas has accepted the position of District Lay Leader of the North-Central District. This position is quite an honor and will begin in June 2016. Please congratulate Trish when you see her this next Sunday in church!

Please see her biography below.

BIOGRAPHY OF JUDGE PATRICIA V. THOMAS

Patricia Thomas is a second generation Floridian, growing up primarily in Clearwater, Florida. She attended Florida State University, majoring in education. After college, she attended Florida State University College of Law, earning her law degree in 1976. Upon graduating, she clerked for Florida Second District Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Grimes in Lakeland, Florida. Patricia was in private practice in Tampa, Florida for two years, then moved to Inverness, Florida in 1979 where she continued her private practice for forteen years before being appointed a Florida Circuit Court Judge. While in private practice, she handled primarily family law and civil matters, including wills, probate and trusts. During the time she was in private practice, Trish was actively involved in her community: she is a charter member of the Altrusa Club of Citrus County; one of the first women to become a member of the Rotary Club of Inverness, where she served as the first woman Club President in 1999-2000; Trish was active on the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, serving as President in 1988. She is a graduate of Leadership Citrus in 1993, as well as a graduate of Leadership Florida-Class XIII. Trish is a member of First United Methodist Church in Inverness and has been actively involved in church activities at the Church and District levels. She has served on the Florida Conference Board of Ordained Ministry for twelve years, with this year being her last. She is currently the Chairman of our Leadership Committee here at Inverness FUMC. She has been on the Walk to Emmaus, and Trish has served on several Emmaus retreats and had the privilege of serving as Lay Director too. In 1983, the governor of Florida appointed Trish to the Central Florida Community College Board of Trustees, where she served until 1991. During her time on the Board, she served as Vice Chair and Board Chair. In 1990, Trish ran for and was elected to the Citrus County School Board, where she served until 1993 when she was appointed by the Governor of Florida to the position of Circuit Court Judge in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida. Since that time she has been re-elected to office three times. During the time she has been on the bench, she has served in all divisions of the circuit court including family division, criminal division and civil/probate & guardianship division. Because of her efforts, the Citrus County Drug Court was created. This Court has helped individuals who are in the criminal justice system overcome their addictions and go on to live successful lives. While Judge Thomas has been on the bench, the Family Visitation Center of Citrus County became a reality. This is a safe place where parents can spend time with their children who are in foster care, and parental transfers in highly charged family law cases can be made of minor children in a safe and calm manner. (Continued next column)

Judge Thomas currently serves as the Administrative Judge of Citrus County. She also serves on the Florida Conference of Circuit Court Judges Executive Committee, as well as its Education Committee. Judge Thomas is actively involved in judicial education, by teaching new judges in the area of probate and guardianship, as well as facilitating and teaching at the Judges Conferences. She also serves as a judicial liaison to the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.

Thank you to our youth for their participation in the Walk-A-Thon on May 21st. You were very instrumental in raising gas money for the Bus Ministry. Also, God bless all in our congregation who supported our youth in this fundraiser!!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX BLESSINGS

Our church is participating in Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox Blessings) this year. In order to avoid overwhelming everyone at Christmas time with more shopping, we will spread this out over the entire year. For the month of JUNE, we are collecting deodorant and/or Chapstick. “Operation Christmas Child” is in the hallway next to the mailboxes each Sunday. Please continue to bring in donations each month which will bless many underprivileged children in December.

Dear Church, I want to thank my church family who were hard at work on the prayer clock for me as I did my Women's Walk to Emmaus. I also want to thank my sponsor, Larry Hagerty, for the transportation and pep talks. Thanks to all those who sent me Agape letters of encouragement, it was such a surprise. To those that came to the candlelight ceremony on Saturday evening you can't imagine how uplifting it was to see your faces. DeColores, Diane Maxwell, Walk #147, Table of Sarah
