organisati-on, operates both the Saurer Museum by the Lake as well
as the Saurer Museum DEPOT in Arbon. Without exception, the
volunteers work voluntari-ly out of joy and conviction. We would be
very hap-py to welcome you in our club. You‘ll be rewarded with
free entry to both museums for a full year and you‘ll receive our
quarterly magazine «Gazette» with many contributions from past and
present and all about the Saurer and Berna history.

locallyknown as the former PRESSWERK in 9320 Arbon,
Switzerland.
Saurer Museum on Lake Constance
The Saurer Museum in Arbon takes you on a jour-ney through the
rise and the fall of three gene-rations of the hugely influential
local industrial family Saurer.
On display are trucks dating as far back as 1911, such as our
beloved Brazilian «Caminhao», which was brought back to its roots
in 2003 and is still in the process of the most careful of
resto-rations. You can also board a legendary postal bus, sit in
vintage army trucks, look in bewil- derment at a gigantic snow
blower or carefully study a vast array of engines, all proof of the
en-gineering capabilities of the Saurer family.
Apart from trucks, a complete line up of all the most important
embroidery machines produced by Saurer can also be observed up
close. Since 1860, the ingenious Saurer engineers construc-ted the
most complicated stitching and weaving machines to produce the
finest and most delica-te cloth in the world. All of our machines
are in running condition and will be started up for group visits by
our amazingly dedicated corps of volun-teers.
The Saurer Museum is prize winner of the Eu-ropean Museum of the
Year Award EMYA for its professional work with volunteers and its
public service.
We would love to host you for your function, birthday, wedding
or company reception! Up to 100 people will be lead on a tour by
our guides and properly fed in a unique atmosphere by the team of
the hotel «Wunderbar».

Saurer Museum DEPOT
Our DEPOT is a depot, just as the name implies. Vehicle after
vehicle, machines and engines, a hand embroidery machine, countless
spare parts – every- thing your Saurer heart desires is now
collected in a stunning, carefully restored one hundred ye-ars old
building. Every single gem on display would have earned a special
place in our main museum by the lake, but because of our limited
space there we had to find a new home for our extra bits. Our
collection can be viewed as of April 2018 in the for-mer press shop
on the WerkZwei area behind the Arbon train station.
