LTGA News As the Fall season makes its way, there is still plenty of rounds yet to play. I encourage you to make it out with your friends. The signup sheet is on the counter in the clubhouse and please sign you and your guests in everytime. I look back just a few months ago and feel so grateful for the abundance of moisture received but now I am wondering if we are sitting on another drought!! Lets pray that’s not the case and the rains will soon return! The earlier moisture helped to grow so much grass that re-seeding occurred and was so helpful on the back nine. You can really see the difference on holes 10 and 13! Jeff baker and crew did a great job keeping the course maintained throughout the summer. We have completed the protective fence around the Tee box on the driving range! I have seen some people utilizing the driving range and I feel it will be a huge asset to the course. We are still in the process of aquiring a ball picker and until one is in place, please bring your ball shagger to retrieve your golf balls. The west fence will soon be up as well. There will be some driving lanes laying on the ground that will be moved from time to time letting the grass grow back where they were previously. Also , there will be a box containing sand and seed to fill in your divots. Please use it after you are finished to help assure the continued growth of the area. During Winter months, we plan to purchase a strip of astro-turf to hit off of. Please be diligent in this regard. I know everyone would rather hit off of the grass but during the cold season we need to be cautious as to let the grass rest. I want to thank all of the volunteers that helped with trimming trees and removing the dead ones several weeks ago and especially Dave Thompson for the use of his equipment! If you ever have the urge to take it upon yourself to trim some of the dead branches out of the trees , please feel free to do so! The Jefferson’s did exactly that a few weeks ago and many thanks to them! There are 2 workdays scheduled on Oct 3rd and Nov 7TH. Please bring your trimmers weedeaters and trailers! We will start at 8:00 each morning and should be done by 11ish. The Labor Day Tourney turned out to be our most attended of the year with 22 teams playing. Thanks to Dana and Harold for hosting it and Mike for his BBQ! Golf is more than just a game – it’s the camaraderie and friends one makes out on the course. I am grateful for those times! It’s not so much about your ability but more about your willingness to be a part of it! Sincerely, David Doshier, Pres.

Village Notes

Your Board of Aldermen have been very busy over the past few months. Issues and business involving the budget, police and fire departments and ordinance enforcement have resulted in long meetings and much work between meetings.

Fundraising for the playground renovations is going very well. Ground breaking should occur before the end of the year and phase I should be complete in time for summer. Our hats off to the hard working members of the playground committee.

At the September meeting, the aldermen voted to approve your volunteer fire department making a bid on a new (slightly used) structural pumper. The existing structural pumper is a 1992 model and has significant limitations. Replacing this truck is a high priority. Once purchased, a new pumper will significantly enhance the fire department’s ability to combat a structural fire. Additionally, the fire department recently purchased new self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The new SCBA were an operational necessity and corrected a safety deficiency with the old equipment.

The police department experienced a busy summer. In addition to increased patrol hours, they also responded to four significant incidents in the past few months. As a result of these incidents, the village purchased two taser packages at a cost of approximately $3,000. Our patrolmen will carry the taser upon completion of training and certification.

Board of Aldermen Meetings are the second Monday of the month at 6:00PM in the Village Hall. Everyone is welcome.

George MooreMayor, Village of Lake Tanglewood
