JULY 20 CHARLIE CHAPLIN’S THE KID • ERICH WOLFGANG KORNGOLD’S VIOLIN CONCERTO IN D MAJORCome watch the comedic genius of Charlie Chaplin in an outdoor screening of his classic silent film, The Kid, accompanied by Frank Fetta conducting the Marina del Rey Symphony’s performance of Craig Safan’s new score – live to picture. Then, enjoy Academy Award-winning film score composer Erich Korngold’s romantic Violin Concerto in D Major, performed by virtuoso soloist Will Hagen.

AUGUST 3 MATTHEW MORRISON Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe-nominated actor/singer Matthew Morrison will bring his extensive show-tune repertoire to the Marina. As a leading man in Broadway musicals such as Hairspray and The Light in the Piazza, Matthew Morrison has become one of television’s biggest stars due to his starring role on Glee. This multi-talented artist will be accompanied by a jazz band for an evening of standards and favorites. A treat for Broadway and jazz fans alike!

AUGUST 17 GIUSEPPE VERDI’S AIDA – staged production Be immersed in the grand drama of one of the most epic operas ever written, in this staged production of Verdi’s Aida. Set in ancient Egypt and packed with magnificent choruses and complex ensembles, Aida explores the conflict between private emotion and public duty through the intertwining story of its three protagonists: Amneris, the proud daughter of the pharaoh, King of Egypt; her slave, Aida, who is an Ethiopian princess and the daughter of Egypt’s worst enemy, King Amonasro; and Radamès, the Egyptian warrior they both love. Join us for an electrifying live performance as Alejandro’s music is guaranteed to get the audience on their feet and rocking out through the night.

AUGUST 12 YO LA TENGO Indie rock pioneers Yo La Tengo have been one of the most critically acclaimed bands in the business for the past 30 years. The outfit formed in the mid-‘80s and has since released a barrage of hit albums, most notably 1997’s I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and 2000’s And Then Nothing Turning Itself Inside-Out. With audiences still unraveling the lyrical complexity and musical diversity of their 2015 album Stuff Like That There, Yo La Tengo is sure to offer a soul-searching and heart-racing concert experience that you do not want to miss.

AUGUST 26 ARTURO SANDOVAL Arturo Sandoval is one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time. This legendary Cuban-American trumpet master, pianist, and composer has scored ten Grammys, six Billboard Awards, an Emmy, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2013. Enjoy Arturo Sandoval’s formidable improvisational skills as he returns to the Marina for another phenomenal performance.
