gem. Stop for good food, great coffee

and sensational Schoc chocolate.

Retail therapy in the distinctive stores

is highly recommended.

Carterton has art in its very heart –

look around for art on display on panels

around town as you browse vintage and

collectables stores. At the Clareville Bakery

try the lamb cutlet and kumara mash pie,

winner of NZ’s Supreme Pie award 2014.

Masterton is home to The Vintage Aviator, an extraordinary collection of vintage aircraft. This plus Henley Lake, golf courses, a golf driving range, indoor pools and hydro slide, movie theatre and plenty of shopping means you’ll want time here.

The Wairarapa features boutique wineries that are relatively small and typically

family-owned, with winemakers devoting themselves to producing superior

hand-crafted wines.

The Wairarapa’s three sub-regions of Martinborough, Gladstone and Masterton are located on ancient alluvial river terraces of deep, free-draining gravel overlaid with gravely silt loam. They have low rainfall,

hot summers and a long dry autumn. This, combined with low yields,

provides the right balance of warm days (creating ripeness) and cool nights (creating elegance) for producing top quality Pinot Noir, and other

early ripening varieties.

is 10 or more people.Opening hours may vary in winter.
