ESA Redu CentreESA Redu CentreESA Redu CentreESA Redu Centre Located on the edge of woodland in the depths of the Ardennes countryside, ESA Redu Centre has been tracking satellites since 1968. The team of engi-neers and technicians at ESA Redu Cetntre have seen the number of antennas steadily increase over the years. Activities now encompass the tracking of tele-communications satellites (Artemis), Earth (Proba 1) and solar observation (Proba 2), and navigation (Galileo IOT). Close to 50 people work at ESA Redu Centre today. On 1 July 2007, ESA awarded a maintenance and operations services contract to a commerical operator. This allows the use of ESA facilities for commercial activities, optimising the resources on site.

A room has been installed where personnel can receive first aid in case of in-jury or any feeling of faintness. The room should remain open at all times. In addition, several first aid boxes have been placed at different locations in the buildings. The boxes contain material such as antiseptic dermal solution, adhesive dressing, bandage shears, etc. When items are used or when any ma-terial inside the box is missing, this shall be reported to the logistic supervisor and the Health and Safety officer for replacement. The location of the first aid room and the first aid boxes is mentioned on the safety information board.

Defibrillators must be used only in case of emergency such someone having a heart attack and losing consciousness. There are three AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at ESA Redu Centre. The location of every defibrillator is identi-fied with the corresponding symbol.

The defibrillators are located in three buildings and their ex-act location is mentioned on the safety information board. Anyone trained as a first aid helper that has received the necessary instructions for their use can be called.
