Windows Vista is the latest release of Microsoft Windows.

Prior to its announcement on July 22, 2005, Windows Vista wasknown by its codename "Longhorn".

DEVELPOMENT

Microsoft started work on their plans for Windows Vista("Longhorn") in 2001.

It was originally expected to ship sometime late in 2003 as a

minor step between Windows XP.

As a minor step between Windows XP(codenamed "Whistler")and "Blackcomb" (now known as Windows "Vienna").
