There are two editions of MSDN Subscription which are available without Visual Studio – MSDN Embedded and MSDN Operating Systems

When purchased through a Volume Licensing program, an MSDN subscription may be assigned to another user every 90 days

In virtual environments, the MSDN software can only be used to license the operating system of a physical or virtual machine used for development and test
