Also known as “The Wonder Glaze” because of its versatility of use. The unique Stroke & Coat® formulation combines the performance properties of an underglaze with the fired finish results of a gloss glaze. Stroke & Coat® glazes can be applied to earthenware, stoneware, terracotta, or porcelain surfaces of clay or bisque and can be fired from cones 06 to 6, with most colors reaching cone 10 in oxidation or reduction fire.
Stroke & Coat® is a heavily pigmented, viscous glaze line that can be used for brush strokes or opaque coverage. Use these glazes to create intricate, detailed designs and butt up to one another without colors moving. When used in a majolica process, Stroke & Coat® will not move nor blend with the colors beneath. Stroke & Coat® colors are intermixable, allowing artists to create custom shades. Thin with water or media to create a “wash” or watercolor style of design. Because the liquid color is consistent with the fired color, artists will have no trouble visualizing finished results as they create.
Performing just as their counterpart, Speckled Stroke & Coat® glazes are an enhanced version of popular Stroke & Coat® colors. The addition of small specks of color to the base glaze provides a fun visual interest that does not melt or flow during the glaze firing. Stroke & Coat® Accents, is a dimensional glaze that can be used to create raised designs, outlines and other decorations.
AP Certified Non-toxic and food safe. Stroke & Coat® glazes are suitable for artists of all ages when used according to the manufacturer’s directions. And because of its versatility, it is the ideal product of choice for studio, classroom, potter or fine artist. Stroke & Coat® - The Creative Choice.

General UseOne coat of Mayco Stroke & Coat® will create a translucent finish with subsequent coats adding opacity. We suggest 2-3 coats for full opacity and all over coverage. Let dry between coats. Stroke & Coat® glazes will fire to a gloss finish without clear glaze. However, if desired, a clear glaze (such as NT-CLR Clear One Dipping Glaze or S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing) can be added. For application on wet or leatherhard clay and firing to cone 04, colors will retain their vibrancy with huge time savings. We recommend leaving an area unglazed, such as the back or bottom of the unfired piece, to allow for out-gassing of the clay during the single-firing process.
Stroke & Coat® glazes have been formulated to mature at cone 06/05. Most Stroke & Coat® glazes will maintain their color at higher temperatures, especially reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues. Their performance at cone 6 is noted on each individual product label with any changes. We recommend testing on your clay and in your kiln prior to use. Results at cone 6 can be found at the end of the brochure.
Stroke & Coat® glazes are AP Certified Non-toxic and food safe.

Mid-Range Many Stroke & Coat® glazes perform well at mid-range (cone 5/6) and higher temperatures (cone 9/10). Darker colors such as red, orange, yellow, blue and green may darken compared to their cone 06 results. Lighter colors such as tan, purple and pink will fade. We recommend testing at your preferred firing temperature prior to use. Cone 6 performance is noted on each color’s label.

Inspired by aspects of nature, Elements™ and Elements™ Chunkies produce lush, organic, and earthy hues. Designed to simulate the aesthetic, movement and interest of mid-range and high fire glazes in a cone 06/05 oxidation kiln firing, Elements™ and Elements™ Chunkies give artists a wide variety of options in one product, as glaze application, firing temperature and shape will influence the outcome of finished work. The glazes may vary from gloss to matte, with subtle variations occurring in each color. Elements™ and Elements™ Chunkies can also be combined or layered to create unique hues.

AP Non-Toxic - Suitable for use by artists of all ages when used according to manufacturer’s directions.
CL Health Caution - Should not be used by children under the age of 12.
Dinnerware Safe - Meets Food Safe regulations as set by FDA. Dinnerware safe when used according to manufacturer’s directions as it does not exhibit surface textures that could trap food and harbor bacterial growth.
Not Dinnerware Safe - Not recommended for low fire (earthenware cone 05/06) dinnerware as the fired finish contains cracks, crevices and other surface textures that can trap food and harbor bacterial growth. Attempts to clean can cause the underlying porous ware to absorb water and fail. Recommended for ornamental use only.
Some Elements™ glazes are not to be recommended for dinnerware produced from low fire earthenware clay bodies as these glazes can exhibit surface textures such as cracks and crevices. While the glazed surface may pass lead & cadmium leach tests, and therefore legally considered Food Safe, attempts to adequately clean the textured surface may cause the underlying porous ware to absorb water and fail. Elements™ glazes may be considered dinnerware safe if surface texture is eliminated when firing to mid-range or high fire temperatures. The key is recommended usage for low fire (earthenware cone 05/06) dinnerware. Glazes with surface texture applied to vitrified clay bodies do not have the same concern.

For Artists of All Ages!
Art in a Jar™!
Mayco’s Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes transform in the kiln when the small pieces of glass frit burst into color and intricate patterns during the firing process. Artists use these beautiful glazes to add dramatic, colorful effects to their creations. Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes can be used alone or in combination with other glazes and can be fired from cone 06 to 6. Refer to the individual color label for cone 6 firing performance.
Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes have been in the market for many years and were originally formulated using a leaded frit. In 2005, they were converted to a leadless formula, similar to the Mayco Crystalites glaze, which have always been lead-free. We have merged these two great product lines into one, all under the Jungle Gems™ brand. This merge simplifies the selection for the consumer as the glazes perform identically. Crystalite colors will keep their item numbers, name and the entire Crystal Glaze product line remains lead-free.
Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes are recommended for ornamental use only when applied to low fire earthenware clay bodies. All but three Jungle Gems™ glazes have been certified as Non-Toxic, suitable for use by artists of all ages when used according to manufacturer’s directions. Jungle Gems™ are not recommended for dinnerware produced from low fire earthenware clay bodies as these glazes can exhibit surface textures such as cracks and crevices. While the glazed surface may pass lead & cadmium leach tests, and therefore legally considered Food Safe, attempts to adequately clean the textured surface may cause the underlying porous ware to absorb water and fail. Jungle Gems™ glazes may be considered dinnerware safe if surface texture is eliminated when firing to mid-range or high fire temperatures. We invite you to unleash your creativity with Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes.
