I read a newspaper article recently that really made me think. It was by an American astronaut. He said that the view of the Earth from 1 is wonderful but he could see how small and alone the Earth is. He said it was just a little blue 2 with its small white 3 nearby, and farther away, the burning yellow 4 . All around it are huge numbers of 5 , but only the Earth has life on it – as far as we know. After reading this, I decided to be more careful about the 6 in general. I really like 7 and often go walking in the forests and 8 near my home, but I also want to live in a town that’s clean and green. So now I make sure never to drop papers and rubbish on the 9 . I don’t drive a car because I’m not old enough, and I don’t fly much, so I guess I’m helping to keep the 10 clean. When I leave for school, I always turn off the lights, TV and computer in my room – anything that uses 11 . Maybe it’s not much, but it’s a start. When we’re standing on the Earth, it seems very large. However, the astronaut said it’s like a spaceship, or like an 12 in the middle of a sea of stars. We need to take care of it.
