who are homebound and/or in a nursing home. You

may choose one or two people to visit, for just 15

minutes. Cathedral Keepers spend two hours a week greeting

people and answering questions and just being on

site so we can have the Cathedral open during the

day. Training is provided.

VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK Vocation Awareness Week begins today. This is a special

time for our parish to focus on prayer for vocations and an

awareness of how we can support vocations in our midst,

especially vocations for the priesthood, diaconate and

consecrated life. During this week, there will be a table in

the BWC entrance with information about vocations, along

with some prayers for vocations. Please stop and pick up

some materials. For more information, visit

www.gbvocations.org.

Vocation Prayers Gracious God, you have blessed me with many gifts and

talents. Grant me the wisdom to know how best to use

them for the glory of your name. Jesus calls, "Come follow

me." I want to follow you and be faithful to my call. Help

me to see in myself what you see, and give me the courage

to follow wherever you may lead. Bless the Church with

generous hearts, eager to serve your people and spread

your Word. Amen.

Heavenly Father, with a deep trust in the love that flows

from the heart of your Son and by the gifts of your Holy

Spirit, give to the seminarians, novices, and all young

people of the Diocese the courage to respond generously

when you call them to the priesthood and religious life.

Give them strong examples of holy priests and religious.

Through the intercession of the saints and by our prayers,

help them pattern their lives after Mary who was not afraid

to let it be done to her according to your Word. We ask this

through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR

I hope a few of you made it down to St. John's Social Hall after my announcement this past week. It definitely needs

some improvements. We want these improvements and remodeling to mirror the requests and insights of as many

parishioners as possible. The survey will be held the weekend of November 15-16th. We just don't want you to be caught

off guard.

This space will be available not just for us at St. John's but to guests from around the Green Bay

area. Currently we have an elevator. But there are problems. The steps need work to be safer as one comes

down from the main entrance. There are many hidden and dark corners that should be brightened or

"opened up" so people are more comfortable in this large space alone. The space encountered as one exits

from the elevator in the basement/social hall is very uninviting. Some of the rooms are poorly ventilated and

are causing some undesirable smells. These are a few concerns we have already heard and will try to

address.

Before my arrival, one proposal had already been drafted. It is a working draft and could be

modified thanks to your ideas. Eventually, I hope we can have at least two options to put before the people.

Your ideas will help these proposals be more realistic and appropriate for everyone's use. Please keep us in prayer, especially

the Pastoral Council with which I am closely consulting. I hope we will come up with something that will serve St. John's

and her guests well for years to come. Thank you for your involvement!

NATIONAL ROSARY NOVENA

In my recent pastoral reflection, “Teach My People To Pray,” I urge the faithful of the Diocese of Green Bay to

focus on deepening our relationship with the Lord by renewing our prayer lives and fully living out the call to holiness. The

National Rosary Novena, which concludes on November 21st, provides another opportunity for all to pray the Rosary indi-

vidually, as a family, as a diocese and as a parish.

All of the faithful across America will be praying together to ask the Blessed Mother to intercede in a powerful yet

maternal way for the special intentions of this novena that are for peace and the family with a special focus on human life,

marriage and religious freedom. You can find the information online at www.54days.org.

We entrust all of our efforts to Our Lady of Good Help who is so present to us in the Diocese of Green Bay. The

Blessed Mother, as Pope Francis says “the woman of prayer and work in Nazareth, and she is also Our Lady of Help, who

sets out from her town ‘with Haste’ (Lk 1:39) to be of service to others.” Let us too set out in haste to embrace the Lord and

to reach out to those around us in prayer!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend David L. Ricken, DD,JCL

CREDO FAITH FORMATION

On November 1st, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast

of All Saints. This year, our Credo classrooms have

decided to adopt a saint to intercede for the catechist and

students in each particular class. The students prayed about

which saints they thought would help them along their

faith formation journey this year. The students submitted

the saint names and then the class voted, with the Holy

Spirit casting the deciding vote in each class. We thought

you would enjoy reading which saints were chosen

to ,intercede for the students and catechists this year.
