The 2019 Northern Valley Eighth Grade class includes 12 graduates: Colten James Bailey, Brian Rico Ben- como, John Foster Brands, Kai Evans Cox, Heather Lee Kier, Austin Mat- thew Manning, Thayz Guadalupe Saenz, Deacon Edison Schemper, Tanea Leigh Speer, Ellanna Suo Van Kooten-Tharman, Shaylee Estelle Vsetecka, and Stephanie Ann Whitney. Trump Norton City Council holds its first meeting of the month By DANA PAXTON [email protected] The Norton City Council held their first meeting of the month this past Wednesday evening. After roll call, the flag salute and invocation the board approved the April 17 meeting minutes followed by a look at the building and demolition permits submitted. There were four re- roofing permits totaling $18,616, four construction permits, a ramp, a deck, a porch and a shop totaling $34,300 and lastly, a permit for $1,200 to repair a porch and $22,000 to replace a deck with an addition to it. Representatives from the Amuse- ment Association Board were present and thanked the City for the help and support yearly. Kirk Persinger asked if the fair ride could be set up earlier this year between June 1 and June 10, due to new regulations, two inspections must be done. He also said that they are getting new insurance. The City will try to accommodate the request and will keep in contact with the Public Works Supervisor. A motion was made to waive the for- mal second reading of Ordinance 1724, repealing sections 16-301 through 16- 323 of the Norton City Code concern- ing zoning regulations for the City, and adopting in its place, certain zoning and use district regulations; means of amendment and revisions; and penal- ties therefore, within the City. The Norton County Treasurer’s Of- fice would like to remind everyone that the second half of taxes are due Friday, May 10. The Northern Valley Eighth Grade Graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, at 8 p.m., in the Long Island Middle School Gymnasium.
