Bartenders are responsible for mixing and serving drinks for customers they typically work at bars, restaurants, or other
liquor-licensed establishments. Bartenders in the United States typically rely on tips for the majority of their income.
For those the like to travel or work in high-tourism areas, bartenders are in serious, high demand.
While some top-paid bartenders graduate from bartending school, most learn on the job or by shadowing an experienced bartender.
Bartenders need to have good short-term and long-term memory. Short-term memory is very important for remembering
and keeping track of each customer’s order.
Long-term memory helps you remember the names of regular customers and even their favorite drinks. Customers
appreciate a bartender who listens and remembers their orders. Additionally, your long-term memory will help you
remember the beers available (on tap and in the bottle) and special recipes for mixed drinks.

With so many moving parts in a bar or restaurant, directions and messages need
to be communicated clearly for everything to run smoothly. Being able to do this
in a hectic kitchen or with hundreds of customers everyday means you’ll be able

More than just communicating effectively with customers and crew members, a
hospitality job involves turning on the charm and actually getting along with
managers and strangers alike. Whether it’s for better tips or to make your life
easier, learning to build rapport is a skill that’s essential in all spheres of life,
including your own social life.
There’s a clear chain of command in hospitality work and learning how to deal
with your managers and work effectively with your colleagues will set you up for
all kinds of situations in life. Plus, this is a field where a lot of people get their first
experience of managing a team and a chance to try their hand at leadership.
Deadlines are about as real as they come when it comes to hospitality work
because there’s a direct line between you getting your work done on time and a
customer that’s either happy or disgruntled with the service. Master this and
you’ll be coveted in any role all over the world.
Of course, working at a bar, café or restaurant means you’ll have hundreds of
different things on your plate at any one time, so you’ll have to learn to deal with
that as well. The order for table #6, greeting the customers that just walked in,
filling everyone’s water–and don’t forget to smile. It’s a hard gig but working in
hospitality makes you a multitasking gun.

1. Wash the carrot thoroughly, peel and grate
the carrot
2. Take a heavy bottom pan, add ghee and fry
the nuts and remove aside
3. Add the grated carrot, sauté for a while
4. Add the boiled milk and allow it to cook
the carrot
5. Once done, add the sugar and continue
stirring (adjust sweetness to taste)
6. Add the prepared nuts and mix in the
crushed cardamom

1. Rim the glassware with caster sugar using honey.
2. Add fresh mint leaves (10 nos.), bird's eye chilli (3 nos.)
and muddle in a cocktail shaker.
3. After muddling, add honey (45 ml) and ice into the shaker.
Shake well.
4. Strain the juice into old fashioned glassware.
5. Pour chilled soda into the glassware.
6. Garnish with a bird's eye chilli and serve.
